Fences groups disappeared from desktop, but icons remain

I installed Windows updates, and now all my Fences groupings have disappeared. I managed to get the icons to reappear, but none of the Fences groupings they were contained within are there.

When I right click on an empty area of the desktop, the screen no longer gives the option to create a new fence. Clicking on "Enable Fences" does nothing.

In my Fences dashboard, "Enable Fences" is checked. /  Quick-hide is not checked. / I updated my product key.   When I click check for updates, it tells me there is an update, but download + install I get an error message "The uninstall executable file could not be written out because it is already in use. Close all running uninstalls and click Retry to continue. Click Cancel to abort." but there are no other running instances.

Any other suggestions?

When all else failed, I purchased another license and after a half hour of error codes, the last reboot of the computer made all the Fence groupings re-appear. It asked for my new product key and I'm back in business.

I didn't think Fences had an expiration date requiring renewal - ?? but having it since 2010 I could not deal with the hodge-podge of icons that was my desktop without it.  Heavy sigh.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you had issues.

You probably had version 2 and needed version 3 to get things

right again the upgrade to the newer version required getting a

new Lic. key.

Also don't forget about using the " Snapshot " feature if things get out of wack

to bring it back right again .
