Icons running away from their fences

This has happened twice in the past week, and I don't know if I'm hitting some mysterious combination of keys to make it happen. Have used Fences since Windows 7 version, am running the most current Windows 10 version on...well...Windows 10. And the most current version of Windows. 64-bit computer.

Am a graphic designer with four separate Fences-windows for four magazines. Am working 5-6 hours per day and this has never happened before.

What happens: Like kids running away from home, every icon on all four windows will abruptly desert their Fences/Fence-windows and congregate on the Fence-window I'm currently on. They leave the Fences empty on all four pages.

I painstakingly sorted them back into their windows once, this past Tuesday (15 January). They just ran away again (2:00 pm Friday, 18 January).

Does anyone know what the heck is happening? Screencap below.

Hello,

I am not sure what is happening on your desktop. But, you can reset back all you icons into each fences by restoring the layout snapshots. Fences keeps your layout daily up to 3 days and any layout snapshot you wish to save.

You can get to if by right click on your desktop -> Configure Fences -> Left panel : click on Layout & snapping -> Right panel : Layout snapshots : Select Snapshots you wish to restore -> Restore Snapshot : Click on Restore Snapshot button.

That should do it.

As for why it "run away from the fences", I am not sure. Can you provide a video grab for the issue so we can visually see the problem.

Thank you,

Thanks so much for offering help so fast.

I looked at the snapshots, but the snapshots seem to have been taken only of the screen I worked on that day, rather than snapshots of all four screens. I'm not using all of the screens every day, as each screen is dedicated to a different project. Also, the icons change depending on new folders and Photoshop/Illustrator docs temporarily stored on the screen while I'm working on them. Maybe I'm seeing the snapshots wrong?

> I wish I could provide a video grab, but the move was entirely unpredictable and happened too fast. I was in InDesign, PDF'd the document I was working on, and when I minimized the InDesign window, the icons had already moved. They didn't casually adjust themselves while I was watching (as I've seen Windows icons do over the years); they were quantum-sneaky.

Will try your instructions now. If you don't hear from me again, your solution worked. I'll let you know if the icons run away again, here's hoping they don't.

Thanks so very much for your help.
