Icons Move When Monitor Turns Off

I was a Fences 1.0 user for years on Windows 7 with no problems. Got a new computer with Windows 10 & had to buy Fences 3.0. Got it set up. Nothing fancy. Just locked fences on 1 screen. However, every time my monitor turns off & other times as well, my icons play musical chairs. They go all over the desktop. Some within fences, some out of fences. If it weren't for the snapshots, I wouldn't even be using Fences. The only thing I can think of is that my screen resolution is at 1920 x 1080, but I have custom scaling on at 140%. It didn't cause any problems for setting up the Fences though. I tried contacting customer service, only to discover there in no customer service. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If 'lock' means log off / lock your Windows account, that would be fine.  If you mean 'lock' / park your HD, no.

This is not a software test effort, rather, a power down / up of hardware.  If it were not clear already, I am not a fan of hibernate / sleep for their notable distress they put running software in (Fences would not be a lone casualty).

Yes, I meant lock my account. If you don't recommend sleep or hibernate, what do you? Just keep it on all day & shut it down at night? Just curious. I'm always interested in learning new things.

I'm going to run a few tests in order to let you know what isn't causing the problem, & I'll get back to you with the results.

So do you just keep your computer on 24/7? (Hope that worked. My first attempt at quotes.)

OK. Here's the scoop after my experiments. If I either manually, or let the computer put itself to sleep or hibernate, my Fences are intact when I power up the computer. Evidently, the only time the Fences are playing "musical chairs" on my desktop is if the hard disk is turned off & I power up the computer before it enters sleep or hibernate mode. Follow me?

Guess what? I found another problem causing the icons to move around. It took me awhile to pin down the cause, but luckily I use a lot of sounds. There is a scheduled task called UserTask-Roam that is causing it. It's located under Windows, CertificateServicesClient in Task Scheduler. I did a Google search but I'm finding a lot of old stuff rather than Windows 10. Figured I'd see if you, or anyone else, knew whether or not I could disable it before I did any more searching. :thumbsup:
