Restoring Fences

Re-install Windows

I have spent a great deal of effort creating my desktop with fences and icons with links and short cuts. If I have to re-cover Window OS is there a way I can save my Fences Desktop including the configuration of the icons? Obviously I can use the snipping tool to save the "picture" overall configuration and the "target" of each path to re-construct but hoping you have a more efficient procedure for recovery. I love Fences.

What is the restore process if Windows needs to restore from a clean install? Where are the icons details saved and do I need to save them on a second drive?

Hello,

While a snapshot will restore Fences to any new PC, and place existing icons in them (where they were), it will not create icons on the desktop if they do already exist there.

With that, if you have scores of icons on your old, you would need to make sure they exist (create) on the new before expecting Fences to place them in the proper Fences via a snapshot restore.
