Can't make single-column Fence with Classic-sized icons

To duplicate:
Create a Fence as wide as 1 large icon and as tall as the screen.
Right-click Desktop, go to View, Large Icons.
Fill Fence with icons, which will line ip vertically, single file.
Right-click Desktop, go to View.
Choose Classic Icons.
Icons will line up double-file, two across, some behind the right edge of the Fence.

What's weird is that this is recent. It wasn't doing that when I installed the app.

How do I send the logfile?
