uninstall for iconpackager erroneous

I had not been asked for restoring defalut icons, so I thought that in self-impplied. After restart, I have lost History icon in Open/Save as.. dialog, Recent and My Pictures icon in Win Explorer. Also I have fixed HTML Document icons, that proved easy to fix (I think I lost here too, because there is an icon for HTML files created by Visual Studio, another for FrontPage etc).
Please please help me regain my Windows back: I know how to use regedit, I know (basics of) how to work with Web Views and desktop.ini. I have MSDN, newest Platform SDK, no use. I wrote to stardock and microsoft guys, no help. Did search on Google and here. I applied the fix on registry that mcrosoft has recommended for Windows 2000 SP3 in order to use custom HTT's for a folder.
I had lost 2 days trying to fix it, I spied on Windows explorer with regmon of sysinternals, I am dam' exhausted. I cannot afford reinstalling windows, I run some network applications.
Please let me know here or by mail ([email protected]) where are the settings for the 3 icons I've lost.

after doing the uninstall of icon packager make sure to also "delete" the "directory" that will most likely still exist on your hard drive and then restart your windows and see if that works...

I would re-install icon packager, use the rebuild icon cache function, restore all icons, reboot and then un-install.

Let's say it is partially solved. I didn't thought of reinstalling IconPackager: "Fool me once, fool me twice". Now I have instaled, choose "default windows", "rebuild icon cache" -> haven't work. Choose another skin, then back to default, rebuild -> still missing those icons. I had to apply a skin and uninstall; this time, it asked me to keep new icons, I chose Yes, kept some files on the custom uninstall process, and now I have some curious XP icons. After all, that was the thing I wanted, but in my own way: I know that IE6SP1 came with different icons for 2000 and XP in the same files, and I wanted to use the other ones.
Now, the Q is, if IconPackager is time-bomb, I will remain without icons on the 31th day?
1. If yes, I will have to get a cracked version, just to customize again the icons.
2. If no, it proves to be a free customizing program, because you can install it only for customizing, then uninstall (eventually with a registry cleaner app), and so again.
A second thought: I will run a search on my registry to see where it points to the package folder, so I'll find where are the records for the missing icons.
PS. It seems that the icons I use have some alpha-blending or so, ACDSee crashed when opened ICL file, so it made me feel "legacy" on my Win2000, so I'd never thought that it will work on a win98 way: install/uninstall/reinstall, restart windows when something is broken etc.

I'll have no choice, I have to return and anounce you that now my LNK files are not associated with any program; this is a very nice surprise, I haven't been curious about what association they had. I'm getting so much knowledge in this domain, in 2-3 days I think I'll write my personal IconPackager.
I noticed WindowsBlinds on MS site, where few of their accolites had penetrated (activestate is the other example I can give). After this good colaboration, shouldn't we got a MSI package? (it is safer, not the best).
What do you do when you uninstall it? Keep the skinned icons, is no good; remove them, the same; sometimes, you miss even the chance to chose on this.

That's even better, my EXE files are not "associated". What is the association for exe files? I'll have to wait the answer with this browser opened, I don't think I can start another session.

Now "fixed": downloaded a fix for viruses that un-associate exe files, unfortunately it was XP-specific, so it crashed windows. After restart, windows seem to recover. I have to mention that IE was not my default browser, even if I run 2000 Server, that does not allow another default browser.
I hope this it the last post here. Conclusion is only one: Ask a friend that bought IconPackager, and buy it directly. Do not TRY it.
I still wait for an answer: will my icons expire?

That is how to restore your icons.

IconPackager will expire and you will have to go back to normal icons unless you purchase it (which is the whole point of shareware).  your associations getting messed up had nothing to do with Icon Packager.

I would suggest using Fuzzy Logics advice for restoring your default icons as it is the published method.
