Start10 search does not include applications.

Start10 search does not include applications.

When I search using Start10 it will show files on my PC and some shortcuts, but the majority of applications and shortcuts are not shown. I am not blocking any services nor have I turned off background apps. Has anyone else had this happen recently?

My computer updated to Window 10 Pro 1803 again, and the same problem immediately reoccurred. This is beginning to become rather irritating.

Okay, some more data:

The Start10 Start Menu can find some programs, and can't find others. There are Windows native programs and 3rd party programs in each category.

Can find: Blender, Notepad, MusicBee

Can't find: Snipping Tool, Substance Designer, xNormal, LibreOffice Writer, MKV-HC

My laptop which also upgraded to Windows 10 1803 doesn't have this issue, possibly because it has the Home edition, not the Pro edition?

Just as a voice to add to this issue.  I have also been experiencing the search NOT working in Start10 about 6 months ago.  Finally got annoyed enough to do some searching to find a solution and came here.  It's disappointing that the response from stardock was that the issue is likely isolated as they themselves cannot replicate it.  The voice of 1 represents 100's out there, that 1 individual just had enough time and patience to report it so I'm not impressed that the customer support was to write off their concern and not actually address the root cause of their software issue.

Hello,

Have read this thread? https://forums.stardock.com/490488/page/3/#3725501

There is an updated version of Start10. Have you try it? If you did and still have problem with search, please let us know and work with us to iron out the problem. Preferably on a new thread.

Thank you,

I just got Windows 10 and Start10 and I have this issue as well. I want to be able to pin the "Calculator" application to my start menu, but it doesn't show up in search. I've tried everything in this thread to fix it, but nothing has worked. :( :( :(

Hello,

Its best to start a new thread. And please list down what you have tried in the new thread including Windows version and Start10 versions.

Thank you,

I created an account just to reply to this thread, in spite of it's age, that I also have this issue.  I purchased Start10 some months ago and it has never worked correctly.  I am finally getting around to trying to resolve this issue where the Metro Apps do not show in Start10, came across this thread - I've already done these things.  Start10 still fails to search correctly.

This is terribly disappointing news because I do like the way it is organized and Windows 10 start menu is a complete piece of garbage.

But this problem is not with Windows 10, it is with Start10.

How sad that it still has not been fixed.  I suppose I'll have to waste even more time to find an alternative.

What language version of WIndows are you using?

It is not normal behaviour for Start10 to not show those things in the start menu search.

I came to back track my previous post.  Metro Apps never did show up in Start10 for me since purchase, which was around mid-Nov.

After having rebuilt the index, uninstall/reinstall, etc. I was finally able to get Start10 to show Metro Apps.  The solution, for me, was the purge tool at:  http://sd.stardock.com/zubaz/apps/Purge_StartALL.bat

I had my product key emailed to me and I downloaded a new copy of Start10 from the Download link in the email.  It now works.

I absolutely despise Metro Apps - not being able to open up more than one window of the standard Windows calculator, for example, is completely ridiculous.  Windows 10 is a gigantic pile of trash.  Half the OS feels like a skin of the "real" Windows.  Start10 makes it feel less horrible, which is why I bought it in spite of Metro Apps not showing up.  But it's working now so that's great.

But, to answer your question -- English.
