General Feedback

I originally purchased Object Desktop YEARS ago (10?). I saw an ad and decided to re-up and re-install. I couldn't be more disappointed.

WinCustomize has a very small community and the site is literally identical to what it was 10 years ago. Most of the popular skins are the same ones I saw years ago as well. I tried a few of them, and each of them came with their own quirks that caused me to remove them (reminded me of why I stopped using it years ago). For example, not capturing the mouse over the close button in the far upper-right corner, causing lag with right-click menus in the task bar, or putting borders around the icons making them look really, really ugly . None of the skins really jumped out at me like, "OMG I NEED THIS." The first 10 or so skins are of decent quality, but the further through the list you get, the more the skins look like they were done in MS paint.

This got me googling and I came across Rainmeter and Wallpaper engine and was blown away by the skins. I was immediately disappointed in the $30 purchase I just made, expecting a commercial product to be superior to an open-source one and a $4 wallpaper program on steam.

The only program of the entire suite I'm actually using and enjoy is Window FX, because it makes window transitions cool instead of just standard fades. I'll probably give Keyboard Launchpad a shot, but I found the UI pretty clunky and off-putting at first blush.

Super disappointed. I really expected more from Stardock. Windowblinds feels like software that's not being updated and is in "maintenance mode," and that was really the program I was hoping to get the most out of. The skin selection is paltry and of low-quality. Deskscapes was the same, and the little I played with it, was pretty buggy on my 3-monitor setup. Fences was cool, at first, until I download Rainmeter.

Step it up, guys. You can do better.
