Windows update kills my start 10

Not only Windows updates, but just normal cleaning of the hard drive.

Hello,

Please explain what is the problem.

When I get a big update, or even clean the hard drive, Virus scan, ccleaner, defrag Start 10 is gone and I have to reinstall. This happens quite often.

I just installed a new program, 10 is gone again, WTF?

Hello,

Have you or have you not try my suggestion on reply #3?

Are you rebooting after installing a new app?

It sounds like Start10 is simply not starting up on reboot (hence losing it on OS updates etc).

If so check the Start10 service is set to automatically startup, it may be some 'helpful' optimizing app has set it to disabled / manual in which case Start10 will not start on a reboot.

It is enabled and on auto, next time it goes down I will do the above.

If this turns out to un-fixable, how many times can I reinstall?

Let me add a little more. When I installed that program, 10 was dead, tonight I uninstalled the program when it was first installed the services page said nothing about automatic, and said disabled. Once the program was gone every thing on the services page was right. The program was called "Iris: Easy on the Eyes" Hope this helps.

We appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

Well here is a new one, I was playing a game, and it got hung up, so I restarted the computer. 10 was gone again. I have used 10 for several years and never had this problem.

Hello,

Than there is something else causing the problem. Since you've been using Start10 for years and as far as I know Start10 have not had any update recently.

It just goes back to the reg. 10 start button. No apparent reason.

As I said before. There is something else causing it. Not start10.

If you are having issues with various software disappearing then you seem to have some type of problem with your OS.

Nothing else disappears, how many times can I reinstall the product.

I got the link to work, so I am ready for next time.

OK, it did it again just out of the blue. I did step 3 and it worked, at least so far. Thanks.

Well that didn't last long, I just restarted the computer and it is gone again, this is getting tiresome. I ask before with no answer, how many times can I re download this program?

A new wrinkle, when I do a virus scan with Avast, that is when 10 goes away. Any connection?

Avast is not a very good AV. I would suggest whitelisting Start10.
