Control Panel Menu Slow

When the Control Panel is set to display as a menu it takes 5~6 seconds for the menu to display.

Is there anyway to optimize this.  5 to 6 seconds seems excessive.

Thank you,

Robert.

Unfortunately those menus are created by the OS itself so any delays are outside of our control.

Do you have a SSD or an old fashioned hard drive?

Are you using Windows Defender as that has a known bug with shortcuts where it can cause those menus to lag the first time they are shown since a reboot.

I was using the 30 day trial of Start10 to see if I might like it better than Classic Shell.  I had been having problems with Classic Shell, which turned out to be the result of the Windows Fall Creator update, but I did not know that when I started looking at Start10.

Overall I liked the app, but when I enabled the Control Panel item to be a menu, rather than a link, I found that it took a very long time to load, if it loaded at all.  This post seems to indicate that it will take 5-6 seconds, or more, due in large part to the fact that Windows is at fault, and that's "simply how long it takes".

However, I've reinstalled Classic Shell, and found that it will load the Control Panel menu very fast, certainly without a 5-6 second delay.  And so, I've had to abandon my desire to use Start10, and go back to Classic Shell.

If the Start10 team can explain to me, why Start10 takes longer, or they can fix it, I'm certainly willing to look into using it again, but I'm afraid that my testing indicates something different from what this forum suggests is the root cause.

To the Start10 team, I'm open to talking to you about what I've discovered, and how I've compared the two apps, but I suggest that you simply install Classic Shell, and compare the load times, on the same PC, and I suspect you'll discover exactly the same thing that I've found.

Hello,

Just check mine. I am on windows 10 Pro with Start 10 1.56. On my system it only take less then a second to display Control Panel menu. But maybe because my OS is on SSD.
