What exactly to I get with Object Desktop?

  1. I like the Windows taskbar. The start menu not so much.  I'm not interested in replacing the taskbar with Object Dock.  The only two things I really want out of OD is functionality to add groups to the taskbar (like Bins http://www.1upindustries.com/bins/default.aspx) and Fences.  If I get the Object Desktop package, would I be getting this functionality (my conclusion is no)?
  2. For purchasing, I have an option of renewal for one year or digital download.  There is no explanation in the difference between them. If I get one year, do I need to pay to use OD after that year is up?  Or is it one year of updates, and then the software is mine from that point on?
  3. Multiplicity says control 2 PCs with one keyboard and mouse.  Is this one master and 2 slaves or 1 master, one slave?  Why is there no explanation of the KM version versus KVM?  How is just KM supposed to work? The video attached to OD indicates nothing about the offered version (very misleading).

Sorry if these have been answered, but there is no specific forum search.

You can see all the apps included with Object Desktop here.

Bins is not a Stardock application so it is not included.

You get a year of updates during your membership. If you decide not to renew you can keep using your applications, but make sure you download the installers.

Comparisons of Multiplicity versions can be found here: https://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/

Neither Bins nor Object Dock are part of Object Desktop.  Fences is, but if that's truly the only Object Desktop app you're interested in, it would make more sense to purchase it as a standalone app.

Mr. Dog,  You've answered one of my questions, so thanks - membership is clear now.

I realize bins isn't even your product.  I was asking for functionality like bins.  Do you have that?

I've viewed all of your Multiplicity product info, and it's not clear what KM does without the V.  You only show the KVM product in the videos.  The product details don't actually tell me what I can do with controlling another computer without the monitor.  Also, the line in the ObjectDesktop link which is specifically misleading is: "Eliminate the need for expensive KVM switch hardware".  This leads me to believe that the version in the OD package is a KVM (not just the KM).

Additional question about Multiplicity: how does it work with one computer on VPN?  I assume the KVM version would rather suck (as the image would be routed through the remote connection), and the that KM version might have problems as well.

Tiles would come closest, I'd think.
