Time based Fences and Extended Organizational Rules

Feature requests

I like Fences.  It makes the computer experience more organized and efficient.  When I like a program I tend to imagine how it can be even better.  Here are new feature suggestions based on my musings:

1. Time-based passthrough fences.  A user could set up a "Recent Documents" fence that would hold all documents that had been on the desktop for a certain period of time set by the user - say for up to 3 days.  After 3 days, a document object goes back to the desktop where other desktop organizational rules can work on it.  So there could be another fence called "Getting Stale", that receives docs 4 days to 7 days old.

2. Organizational rules that apply to folder portals.  A folder portal automatically receives all documents.  Or a folder portal that is titled "Archived Docs" could automatically receive any doc on the desktop that has been on the desktop longer than 20 days.

3.  Organizational rules that are associated to and only apply to certain folders.  For example, if the above folder/folder portal "Archived Docs" could have organizational rules that would automatically move docs that are placed into it by doctype and date to subfolders "2017 PDF", "2017 Word", etc.   Subfolders could even be created automatically if they aren't in existence if desired.

It could be possible for a set of rules to apply to more than one folder.  This way, similar organizational patterns could be easily repeated, for example, with different users, without having to recreate organizational rules each time.  So, the above set of organizational rules could apply to Joe's "Archived Docs", Sam's "Archived Docs, and Mary's "Archived Docs"

The "Downloads" folder, as another example, could automatically place in subdirectories setup/iso/docs/etc.

Auto-organizing folders should probably appear differently than regular folders in windows explorer, so that they can be easily seen to be auto-organizing folders.

Cheers, have a good day,

Craig

For anyone else interested in this, it may be possible to get a similar effect using fences with folder based software such as drop it.
