How did you meet your spouse or SO

If you're married or dating, how did you meet them?

I met my wife back in 1992. We had two Electrical Engineering classes together and a EE lab. In the lab, I accidentally started a fire due to some...mistakes with my circuit. This got her attention.

Soon after we started studying together and became friends. A few weeks later, my roommate in college told me he was going to be moving in with an old friend of his who was transferring which meant I needed to find a place to live. But it was so late in the semester that it was looking like I'd end up being in a dorm room with some random freshman which I didn't want.

My friend (Debbie who would become my wife) said that she and her 3 friends (all girls) were renting a house next year and were looking for a 5th person. I'm a guy. LIve with 4 girls? Sure!

Eventually we got engaged and got married in 1994 and lived happily ever after.

I got transferred to a casino in a different town. I was casino pit boss and Kirsty was the cashier.
I would make excuses to keep visiting the cash desk window so I could talk to her. I asked her what she usually did when she got off work, she said she was going home. I lied and said that I always go to the cinema on a Friday night, on my own (yeah right!) and would she like to come with me (trying to keep it low key and casual you see, in case she said no ).
After work I drove her to her house so that she could change out of her uniform and we went to see the movie "Ghost". From that first night it felt as though we had always been together, and we have barely spent a day apart since. (I only found out later that she is 15 years younger than me!)
We were married within the year. 13 years and two beautiful children later, we are still together.
We have a weird and wonderful relationship...............she's weird, and I'm wonderful!

my wife lived directly across the street from me when i was in college. as a mere high school kid, she was totally beneath any attention on my part (lol). she pestered me for 6 years until i went to vietnam, and resumed pestering me on the other coast as soon as i returned. we got married 2 months after i got back, and that's 29 years ago. she has amazing persistence. not the best taste, but amazing persistence.

I met my girlfriend back a few years ago... and fell for her that day... but she had a thing for my friend instead and brushed me off... so I backed off and didn't talk to her anymore... 2 years later she met me again and she was the one in love with me this time, head over heals... so I took things slow and we hit it off big and have been dating for 2 years since we met again...

I met my husband at college. He lived on the other side of the wall (we were in a co-ed dorm). We might not have actually met each other because he always went home on the weekends to work on race car engines for his friends. (I assumed that he went home to see his girlfriend). The RA was his suite mate and basically made him go on a floor function bowling thing (the RAs had to do a couple a year or they got in trouble) and I had nothing better to do that night. He sat around talking with me for a few hours after that back at the dorm. He wasn't scared off by my pet iguana who was hanging on my arm, so I decided he was OK.

We have been together for about 10 years and have been married for 7. At our wedding reception, in his brothers toast to us, he said: "we knew it was serious when Jeff said he had 'better things to do' then come home and work on cars." He should be happy now because he has a wife *and* his racing stuff.

Back in Jan, 1980, I was going camping with a mate, Don..a fellow Spitfire owner in the same car club. He had a school friend who wanted to come too and I had a spare passenger seat. We went to the Cathedral Ranges [in Victoria] and amongst other things I tore off my exhaust pipe on a dry creek bed...[don't ask, but Bruce would die]. We made camp, I wired the exhaust back on [sort of]...and that afternoon we took off on a one hour 'walk' [to the tune of 'three hour cruise'].
To our eternal amusement, this was more accurately described as a 6 hour trek. I decided then to kill the guy who suggested this walk.
Night fell, and we were lost in rugged mountain terrain where one wrong step and snap goes your leg.
Terry [now my wife] was faint and had to be helped/supported.
I plotted creative methods of extermination.....Bruce would die with style.
I decided it was too dark and dangerous to continue, since we could only guess which way to go...[Bruce had led us off-track as well.....castration was looking good].
Fortunately for us all, I smoked and had matches with me, so I lit a small fire to keep warm with till daybreak.
So there we were, Terry and I, 'sleeping' together just hours after meeting....[actually, I was looking at options for post-castration....knee-capping or bamboo under fingers...ah, decisions, decisions].
Just as it became light, a car drove past on the other side of the valley....we'd been sleeping just 100 yards from the road we had set out on.
We got back to camp early and I cooked cheese and onion omelettes...and had a beer or ten.
Getting back to her place, in a car with a noisy exhaust. I asked Terry, if, after all the dramas of the weekend [like almost perishing on a mountain side], she wouldn't be against doing something a little less dramatic like going to the Drive-In.
She said yes. Silly girl [that was her chance to escape], we got married in June, '82 and are, still...

Dunno what happened to Bruce....my guess is that someone actually finalised extermination methods and acted on them, too...

Child-hood friends I was with my future wife, she actually told her mother when she was 14 that she was going to marry me, who would've thunk it. We got married 7 years after she told her mother those infamous words and 2 daughters later, we've been together for 7 years.

No even close to the excitement of Jafo's first meeting, kind of boring actually ...

late

I met my wife on the internet (www.matchmaker.com) 2 1/2 years ago. I lived in Edmonton, Canada, while she was in Near Toronto (the other side of the country). We chatted on the internet and then she called me everyday (a nice phone bill for her). A month later I moved to Toronto, leaving my family and friends behind. We moved in together right away and a year and a half later we bought a house and got married. I still get home sick all the time and have only been back home once in the past 2 1/2 years but don't regret it at all.

I opened a stained glass shop on Cannery Row in Monterey and my next door neighbor was an old friend who was a jeweler. While I was building the shop for a couple weeks I noticed this cute girl spending a lot of time at my friend's shop. He wouldn't tell me who she was until I finally confronted him while she was there to introduce me.

She was his apprentice and he introduced her as "an amazing artist, she does oils, pencil work, embroidery, fiber arts, she plays guitar, sings, she even made the clothes she's wearing and she's a gourmet cook". So I blurted out "Marry me!".

Three weeks later we were getting married. 30 years later we're still married.

Yep....for murder you get 20 years but for marriage you get life....
