Down and Out

Lost our house a week ago. To much snow on the garage roof and it came crashing down . all including the house was red tagged and we are not allowed back in . Also the gas pipes and water main broke causing some flooding and major gas leak .

No computer for a while just a weak cell service.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will let you get back in to salvage what you can. I'm so glad I finally moved out of snow country.

And here I've been complaining about not having really cold weather........ Hope you can salvage as much as possible. Not sure I'd want to see someone's home being pulverized by snow. 8(| 8O :O

That's no good, Az, here's hoping you can either move back in soon when repairs have been done, or that you can relocate quickly to a new residence where the snowfall isn't so heavy.

All the best with it, Mike. :)

You're in the wrong part of Oz, then.  Though I saw snow falling plenty of times when I was a kid growing up in England, I've seen it falling here in Oz, too.

I've seen snow in the Stanthorpe region a few times, though it usually doesn't settle for long there and often melts on contact with the ground.  Also saw snow falling at Amberley [where the RAAF base is] one year, but again it didn't settle.

I also saw snow falling in the Blue Mountains and South-West NSW back in the 70's.  It settled there, though, and I would have tried my hand at some skiing if my boss at the time hadn't said: "Break yer neck and I'll be looking for somebody else to do your job."

Yup, that sobering thought put paid to that idea... not so much at the thought of a broken neck, etc... I just didn't want to lose my job, which I loved, moving people and getting to travel all over the country doing it.

The other place I saw snow was when I lived in Tassie, on the Central Highlands; Mount Wellington and Mount Barrow near Launceston.  So yeah, Paul, you need to get out and about more... perhaps even go see Tassie when the snow is falling.
