Bugs and feature requests.
Hello,
After using fences for a few weeks on Windows 10, I have collected my thoughts:
- folder portals do not inherit the "view" settings from the root. Each browsed folder from that point on goes back to a default large icon view. My system default is "details."
- Would be nice for rollups pinned to the corners of the screen to be able to stay on top of everything.
- would be nice for a rollup to roll in from the sides.
- trying to select icons within a fence using control+LMB is EXTREMELY laggy on one machine, but testing this on another is not.. the laggier machine is the faster machine...
- icon sorting within fences should have more of a grid structure and not auto-arranged. Icons that would fall outside of the fence border would be automatically pushed to the nearest grid point inside of the fence, but otherwise, let me arrange them how I want.
- hotkeys to pop fences over all other apps would be nice. I am using fences to launch programs, and I have them categorized in individual fences. Often-ran apps in a pop-over quick menu would be great.
- fences and blurring (win 10) should respect deskscapes and .dream animated backgrounds.
- renaming icons, say.. to remove ".exe - shortcut" moves icon as if it's being deleted and re-added. This can cause undesired locations.
- automatically removing ".exe - shortcut" would be nice as an ammendment to the rules section per fence/folder
- in quick-hide settings, if you enable auto hide icons and auto show icons, then disable auto-hide, they stay hidden without the option to unhide.. you have to turn it all back on then uncheck show first, then uncheck hide. Should not work this way.
- fence background images? like maybe just a simple subtle grid for the icons?
EDIT: Also.. being able to add virtual folders using shell commands.. Like, in windows 10, it's a serious PITA to make the desktop "Apps" startup with windows because the only way to get access to the shortcuts is by using the command "shell:AppsFolder" which Fences currently does not accept as a desktop folder location.
Otherwise, I'm loving it. Thanks!
