Start10 'Windows 7 Style' start menu style disables 'hibernate'

Hibernate and Sleep commands on Start menu cause shutdown

Using Start10, I've got my Start menu in Windows 10 set to 'Windows 7 Style'.  When I open the Start menu and hover over the 'Shut Down' arrow, the menu appears showing, among other things, the hibernate and sleep commands.  If I click either of these commands, the computer shuts down rather than hibernate or sleep.  If I set the Start menu style to 'Windows 10 Style', hibernate and sleep work like they're supposed to.  I know it's not a hardware problem, either, because I've got my laptop's power button set to hibernate, and it works regardless of which style is selected in Start10.  Is there a fix for this, or is one being worked on?

That is odd as I use the sleep option myself every day.

What version of Windows 10 are you using and what computer is it?

Hey Neil, thanks for the fast response.

I'm running Windows 10 Home, and my hardware is an MSI GT73VR laptop with the following:

Processor: Intel Core i7-6820HK @ 2.70GHz with boost up to 3.6GHz

RAM: 32 GB

System Type: 64-bit OS and processor

Pen and Touch: None

All drivers are up to date.

I've been able to temporarily deal with the problem by using the 'Modern Style' start menu.  While it functions the same as the 'Windows 7 Style', the 'Modern Style' isn't as easy to read because the entire menu has the same background color, as opposed to the 'Windows 7 Style' which gives the left and right columns of the menu different background colors.  It may seem small, but it makes it much easier to take in.  The magic of a well designed UI, I guess.

Now not even 'Modern Style' works.  Anything I do on the computer to hibernate it or put it to sleep just shuts down the computer.  I would like solutions, not just 'It works just fine for me' comments from Stardock employees.

Both the modern style and the Windows 7 style run though the very same code path for shutdown / hibernate etc so it is not unexpected they would do the very same thing.  The Windows 10 menu is the original menu and I assume this continues to work as expected?

I would recommend contacting formal support as they can collect additional information from you to find out why it is acting in a very strange way indeed!
