Bringing up start menu with windows key does not make taskbar appear in front of fullscreen windows in Start10

If I bring up the start menu over a fullscreen window using the windows key it does not bring the taskbar to the front this is inconsistent with default windows behavior and is not how this functioned in the past. This has been an issue for the last 2 or 3 updates. I am running Windows 10 x64 Pro and Start10 1.11.

Last couple of Start10 updates, or Windows updates?

What build of Windows 10 are you using?

Sorry for the late reply I realized the forums do not notify me of replies by email. it has been this way for about 4 months I believe. Start 10 updates I do not believe it was related to a windows update. I am running Start 10 1.11 and  Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview 14393. I had this issue prior to switching to insider preview a few weeks ago so that should not have affected it. Is there any other info I can provide that would be helpful?

I have checked this on an insider build and the release version of Windows 10 and am not seeing this issue.

What application are you using in fullscreen mode?

Pretty much any game in borderless windowed. A few I have been playing recently are Skyforge, ARK, and SWTOR.

Same issue here.  Playing Hearthstone (which always runs in borderless windowed mode), pressing Windows key pops up the Start10 menu but leaves the taskbar hidden.  Definitely a minor nuisance.

(Running version 1.11 of Start10 for the record)

Having the same issue as of Windows 10 Build 14393, Start10 v1.11.

Hitting the windows key (Left or right, both will open the start10 menu regardless of "Show the Windows 10 menu when I press the  right windows key" being enabled)

will cause the Start10 menu to open, but the windows taskbar will not be visible.

Issues occurs in every game running in borderless windowed.

Yep. Same issue here!

Windows 10 x64 1607 14393.10

Start10 1.11

Happens in Borderless Windowed Games. World of Warcraft for me.

Same here! Can confirm switching to the regular Windows 10 Style fixes it for that style. But I want my Windows 7 style start menu back.

I'm running into this too, with Start10 1.11 and Windows 10 1607 (and I think it happened with 1511 too). I have the taskbar on the bottom and set to autohide.

The case I encounter a lot is when I have Visual Studio 2015 in full screen mode. With the Windows 7 or Modern start menus, tapping the Windows key makes the taskbar visible for a fraction of a second, and then VS2015 appears again where the taskbar should be. The problem goes away with the Windows 10 menu, but of course that's because it's using the native menu at that point.

It only happens when VS2015 is the frontmost window. If any other window is on top of VS2015 (even a small window) then it works OK.

Interestingly, the problem does not happen with Chrome in full screen mode.

I am experiencing the same problem since the latest Windows patch; Version 1607 (Build 14393.51). I noticed it while playing Final Fantasy XIV in borderless window mode. If I drag another window in front of FFXIV, the task bar will appear on top (not just the start menu). I also have noticed this behavior is only exhibited in the Windows 7 or the Modern style. Windows 10 style behaves as it should with the task bar appearing over the borderless window mode FFXIV. I am running Start10 version 1.11.

Same problem here, in Dota 2 (which is also fullscreen borderless window) - Start10 shows up, but not the taskbar.  If I open the Windows 10 Menu, it shows the taskbar fine.

Windows 10 Pro x64 v1607 (Build 14393.51), tried with both the latest stable Start10 as well as the current beta (1.19).

I am experiencing the same symptoms as described above, beginning with a recent repair installation of Windows 10.

With the Windows 7 or Modern Style start menus, pressing the start button does not bring the taskbar over borderless windows. With the Windows 10 style menu it works as it should.

Windows 10 Pro x64 v1607 (Build 14393.105)

EDIT: I now see and can confirm that the 1.51 beta version fixes this error.

Yes Start10 1.5 or higher should not have this problem on Anniversay edition.
