Where credit is due

I have a couple real nice OjectDock Apache icons I've built off of other peoples' work, but I don't want to post 'em without their okay. How do I get an email address for them?

For the most part, you should be able to click on their name and their email will show up.

Not everyone puts their email addresses in their visible profile for security reasons...
If you mention specific names here perhaps they will see it and respond.
Failing that, it is against copyright law to upload someone else's work without written consent included.

The citizen's nickname is PrLeSiDeNtE, unfortunately no email was given with their author info or download. Just an FYI JamMeister33, it's not against copyright law to use someone else's art work if they didn't include a copyright somewhere on the material, it's just against winCustomise guidelines and my own morals to 'rip' someone's work.

Steven: you're wrong. No need to include a copyright notice. Anything created is owned by its author.
The copyright notice is just there to make it more obvious for people who are not aware of the law.

Oh and here is the author profile, where he has his email: https://www.wincustomize.com/window.asp?Cmd=AUTHORINFO&accountid=344864

(ok, this is the right thread, lol)

I'd suggest reading the laws of Trade Mark, Registered Trade Mark and COpyright before assuming anything...

Thanks for the link IPlural.

A quick copy-paste for the benefit of our friend Steven:

"The use of a copyright notice is no longer required under U. S. law, although it is often beneficial. Because prior law did contain such a requirement, however, the use of notice is still relevant to the copyright status of older works.

Notice was required under the 1976 Copyright Act. This requirement was eliminated when the United States adhered to the Berne Convention, effective March 1, 1989. "

I like the idea of R.I.G.H.T.S. but if they really want to get at the heart of the problem, they should shut down Kazaa. You can find skins there to.
