Can't sell stock anymore.

Hi all,

I'm very new to the game, so I'm sure I'm just doing something dumb/misunderstanding the rules, but I'm sure I used to be able to sell stock at the start of the game for seed money to upgrade my base. Now however, whenever I try to sell stock I just this error noise and I cannot sell. It appears that the AI can still sell, but I can't. In addition it doesn't look like I can sell stock at any point in the game.

I have tried this on different levels of difficulty, with different credit ratings (AAA - D), with different custom settings and with different maps. Nothing makes a difference. Could someone point me to what I'm doing wrong, please?

You cannot sell any of your starting stock, say, if in a 4 player FFA you start with 2 stocks of your own, you can never own fewer than 2 stocks in your company. AI cannot do that either. If it looks like you can't sell any stock at any point in the game... Are you sure you're pressing ctrl+click? It's a serious question, I actually don't remember if the tutorial covers stock sales and imo, ctrl+click is not a superbly intuitive shortcut for that action

You can't sell the stock that you start the game with.

Hi guys,

Thanks very much for the replies. Yes, I am pressing Ctrl-Click, and I have more than 2 stocks, but it seems from Soren's reply that you can't sell your initial stock at all. I definitely thought that I used to be able to do this though. And the AI apparently can sell their initial stock, which makes it hard to compete with that early advantage they get from doing so. C'est la vie, I guess.  :-)

The AI should not be able to sell that stock. Has anyone else seen that?

No, after more careful examination, I think I'm wrong. The AI players start with less stock than I do, but do not sell it. I assumed they were selling it, but it is my inexperience talking. I just suck at the game is all.  :-)
