Start8 running on Win10 with annoying update available messages (which it can't install)

Yes sort of as the title says, Start8 working fine on my updated OS so don`t feel the need to pay an extra $3.99 for nothing but it keeps popping up that an update is available only to then tell me when trying to run it that my OS isn`t supported.

I am running Start8 1.55 already but on Windows10 so I just want the update available messages to go away.  Can`t see an option to turn it off and really don`t see the need to pay twice for something which is already working fine but just now slightly annoying!

Any advise would be appreciated

Regards

Paul

There is a setting on the about page to stop it automatically checking for updates.

I must however correct you on saying Start8 works fine on Windows 10.  Universal apps will no longer appear in the recently used apps, they will also no longer appear in the Modern UI apps list.  Jump lists will also be broken in the menu and the taskbar search field will overlap pinned / running applications.  It will also no longer match the OS colour scheme automatically.

If your computer has yet to update to the November update of Windows 10 (30 days after you install Windows 10) then some of those features will function until that update installs at which point they will cease to do so.

Start10 of course also offers additional features as well as not having those problems on Windows 10.

Thanks, have disabled auto-update now.

Do I need the extra bits that may be added - no, they add no value to my experience.  This is same product but now put a 10 on the end and charging again, very M$ of the company.  Assume as Win8.1 is still valid then we`ll be getting updates that will continue to work even on Win10 as the current one does.

My point is it already has issues on Windows 10 and that is unlikely to get better with time.  If the broken features do not bother you and you can live with the workaround of not having the search bar on the taskbar then that's ok, but we will not be making any changes to improve Start8 compatibility with Windows 10 and will not accept any bug reports on Windows 10 as it is not a supported platform for the product.

Start10 is not the same product with a 10 on the end, it has quite a lot of additional features as well as compatibility with Windows 10.  Unfortunately development costs money as developers, QA staff, support etc all come at a cost so the update could not be free.
