Galactic Civilizations - worth playing!

Okay, so I installed Gal Civ last night and fired it up. Of course, I had high expectations with the name "Stardock" attached to it, and I was definately not let down.
It is NOT for those of you who do not like micromanagement. If you had a hard time playing Starcraft or any of the RTS - style clones, then you will more than likely have a difficult time playing this.
It's a turn based expansion/conquer sim and its very appealing to the eye. The developers took what looks to be a pain-stakingly long amount of time to make sure that all the attention to detail was present as well as high quality FMV and images, without ever breaking the 'theme' that has been established.
The intro, for example, when the little girl holding her stuffed animal, looks up at the approaching soldier and you see the armada of ships behind him, sets you back and will leave you jaw on the floor.
The resources, systems, ships, and anomolies are all done extremely well, with definition, and excellent particle effect useage. I have just started playing a campeign, I can't say a whole lot about the gameplay. I have just started learning how to wisely spend my resources and determine which technology should be researched in which order (I'll definately say you want a universal translator as early as you can get it!). I can tell I've just barely scratched the surface of the immense detail and many options that are available in this masterpiece, and I look forward with reckless abandonment to plunge deeper into the universe and political possibilites with the other races.
