Creating skins & themes

Hi everyone,
I am wondering if it's easy to create skins and themes?
It seems that everyone is doing it.

That depends on what you are trying to skin and how exactly you want the skin to look/experience with graphics design. If you are completely new to graphics, I would say start out with a simple program to skin using very simple graphics, just to get the hang of how to do it. A lot of the more popular programs, even though after you do a couple you see how simple they really are, seem almost impossible the first time you try to skin them. Just have patience, relax with it, and never let it frustrate you (take a break if you do get frustrated) and you'll see it's usually a lot easier than it seems.

If you want to know what I use you'll be amazed. I use: (insert drumroll here) Microsoft Paint! I make Windows Media Player skins and I use Notepad for programming so as you can see I'm very advanced. It work though and I end up satisfied with the final product. Good luck if you decide to persue this goal!

Thank you so much for everyone who replied my message
I find it very challenging and I really like that.
How can I start? What's the first thing to do?
Does sking studio is enough to create nice skins and icons?

First thing to do is to look really closely at an existing skin...preferably for a 'simple' proggy....and see how it works and why.
To understand them, try altering a bmp slightly and observe the result/s.

Skin Studio is specifically for Stardock's Windowblinds....and isn't intended/used for the likes of WinAMP, WMP, etc...though some other proggies have 'skinning tools' as well.
Most any skinning can be done with a reasonable graphics proggy and a text editor...
