cmd32 and mscvrt32 causing a slowdown

Right after I installed WindowBlinds and LogonStudio, whenever I try to shut down my computer cmd32.exe and mscvrt32.exe run into that End Now type dialog, which is quite annoying when you want to turn off your computer but have to wait an extra minutes for it to close em. So my question is why do they pop up, and how do i fix it?

PS, I uninstalled WindowBlinds (couldnt get it to work) and I'm afraid to uninstall LogonStudio because I fear it'll take my neato logon screen with it

Thanx a bunch

I think you mean mscvrt32.dll which is a runtime component. And cmd32.exe? Odd. Have you checked for viruses? You could have a worm there...

Never had that happen with those apps. Fuzzy has a good suggestion. Just to be on the safe side, run an updated AV scan. Here's a free online antivirus scanner: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/ There are some other free online AV scanners out there. McAfee used to have one, I haven't checked lately.

Here's a write up from the Symantec site that comes up when googling for cmd32.exe:

It certainly can't hurt to check out your PC with an AV, just to be sure.

A search for cmd32.exe on google gives a lot of links regarding viruses. The command prompt is actually Command.com or CMD.exe. CMD.exe is 32 bit and does not have 32 on the end. Info on the worm is here:

Not sure about mscvrt32.dll. Did you actually spell it correctly. There is a file called msvcrt32.dll but a common way of viruses to try and stay hidden is to have a slightly different but plausible sounding name. If it really is mscvrt32.dll then this sounds very likely to also be infected.

In short get a virus scanner ASAP.

new and updated threads are placed at the top of the list, if they get too far down in the list most people ignore them because they are more focused on the closer to real timers

I get those windows from time to time...not the same apps each time. I just figured windows was closing too fast for those apps to react in time.
