It's not been a great start

It has not been the best start to the year 2016, 2nd January 2016 Stephen's Mom passed away here she is in our choir , we put out our first ever Cd  for Christmas.

Then we had Russell, Stephens Brother in Hospital with Pneumonia very bad, which required him to have his lungs drained twice, here he is in Hospital. He is doing well and is on the mend nicely.

And  the 17th of Feb 2016 I lost a close friend of the family His name was Ralph Double but his friends called him Obbs, he is my brother-in-law's cousin he would have been 80 on the 18th Feb but we suspect he had a massive Heart attack. He leaves behind 2 sons and  not sure on how many Grand Kiddies.

and on a Happier note here is what our Cd looks like its not the best pic but you can see us, we was able to get this done before mum took ill .

and there you have it folks  a hard start to the year, I just hope the rest of the year improves  its been rough.

Yes...hard start indeed, old girl.

Wish I could shop you up something to cheer you...but things have a way of returning to the norm, so it'll get better.

If you feel like kicking someone around, well...I'll give you Uvah. ;) There ya go. I heard that giggle.

I can sympathize...

Same year....almost same events [except more and no timely photo].

I'll be off to the World Superbikes at Phillip Island this Thursday for 4 days.... it'll be the first bit of 'peace' since December 27.

Sorry I'm late in getting around to your thread, but as you know, I've had little to no sleep over the last week or so and I'm not functioning too well.   Anyway, I'm here now and have to say that it really has been a woeful start to the year.  I really feel for Stephen and his family because Shirl's passing was more sudden than they were told to expect, and being only just into the new year, various things were not that easy for them to arrange.  Fortunately, the Salvation Arms and others did all they could to help the family at such a difficult time.

As for old Obbs, he was a decent bloke who was taken suddenly and sadly without warning.  I asked him once why people called him Obbs, and as casual as you like, he turned round with a great big grin on his face and said: "Cos I'm an obsinate old bastard.".   Yup, he was hard working and funny with it.  He'll be sadly missed.

The start to the year hasn't been exactly thrilling or exhilerating for myself, either.  I've had some of the worst bouts of vertigo ever, and somedays it was a challenge just to put one foot in front of the other, but I copped a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel and I'm thinking the worst is now behind me.  So long as there's a bag of ice in the freezer, a few cold beers in the fridge and a dreamy looking shop assistant down the street to sell it to me, life ain't so bad at all.
