Search the web for WindowsXP boot screens, it can be done, but not easy.

I've never tried BootXP - but it's a .dll hack to change the boot screen. If you ask me, you're better of living with it. ^_^ If your system's halfway decent, you only see it for a second or so anyway! ^_~

Update: download BootXP here (the site's mirrors are a mess): http://www.fvip.net/bootxpsetup.exe

It can be done manually as well. Various tweak sites, etc have instructions.

But has anyone here tried BootXP? Just wondering. It says it's safe as it makes a backup of the original file, but still I'm wary of mucking about with it.

I use it...just keep manual backup of the ntoskrnl and booy.ini as well as the BootXP backup. In a worst-case scenario it takes all of two minutes to go back to the default...

I couldn't find bootxp but i down loaded some boot screen at this one site. It had instruction to manually install the screen but after i did it my computer wouldn't go past the new screen and it cost me $40.00 to have a computer repair place get me back in.You really don't need the boot screen changed but do get the logon installer here at winncustom.

FWIW BootXP is said to be able to convert the pre XP SP1 bootscreens to work with SP1.

From what I've read, bubba2 is right about preSP1 boot screens. SP1 which made changes to the ntoskrnl.exe. That's why if I decide to muck about with the bootscreen it'd be with a program like BootXP which is supposed to convert them to be compatible with SP1. Although he's also right about not needing to change the bootscreen at all which is the safest of all.
