Timeline for v3

I am still using the initial, free, Fences v1.0 version.

After updating to Windows 10, Fences do not display on the desktop until right clicking it and it is impossible to drag shortcut.

After reading most messages in this forum I came to the conclusion that-

a. v2.13 has still some issues with Windows 10 and -

b. the upgrade to v3 may be commercially complicated.

I also am not interested in any of the other product, I don't wish to install or purchase them. It's just Fences that I LOVE!

I would happily upgrade and am willing to pay for Fences but don't wish to update before v3 is out.

I'd assume there are more Fences lovers out there with a similar opinion.

So - my question is simple and mainly directed to the Fences team:

Do you have any timeline for the final release of Fences 3?

Generally, things come out when they do after being as thoroughly tested as possible...no timelines because then there are endless posts about. "You Said It Would Be Out In XYZ".

Have you tried running yours in XP compatibility mode?

Fences works, at least it is showing the fences.

Limitations in Windows 10 are the inability to drag and drop and Fences not coming up by itself after a reboot.

Drag and drop issue workaround is to use cut and paste.

To make Fences come up after restarting, all that is required is a right click no the desktop.

I asked about the timeline, hoping for an answer from one of the team. A set date would mean that the company/the team is committed to produce the next version within a timeframe. As a software developer for many, many years, I both acknowledge that set dates tend to move but am also aware of the fact that a timeline creates pressure and commitment.

Fences already exists and was quite stable, even in v1, the version I am still using. Adapting it to a new OS is not a huge task. As v3 has been crawling along at a slow pace, my guess is that the programmer(s) are not committed only to Fences but to other stuff as well.

To the Stardock team - I understand that maintenance of an existing product is not an immediate source of income. On the other hand you currently have a wonderful product that is limited in it's use. An existing user may be willing to write and read posts, work on the installation, change some stuff of life with some limitations.

A new user will not. They will download,  quickly review, and for any little nuisance encountered immediately uninstall. My guess is you are currently missing out on them. The reason I stayed with Fences and actually made quite a few customers purchase, is that it simply immediately worked, without any glitches and very stable.

I'd be happy if Fences could get back to that state.

Thanks for our efforts and keep the good work up.
