looking for a good guide or video tutorial to learn about the game...

Hello all,

so I'm new to Offworld Trading Company. I'm a huge RTS player, and I really want to make this game a big love of mine and I want to dedicate a lot of time to it. I have been watching this for updates since the day it was first announced but life has been moving so fast in 2015 I have never been able to play games and I've only just got around to buying it... and I think I might finally have time for RTS games again.

So I'm looking for someone to point me in the right direction. On the surface the game looks pretty simple but looks are decieving and the more I play it the deeper it feels, so I'm looking for any guides or video tutorials that will teach me the basics as well as the more advanced strategies and such.

Any help is much appreciated!

Twitch channels for Zultar, Cubit, and PBhead are great resources. Check out some of their most recent matches and pay special attention to their latest matches as the game is still in beta and changing constantly. Zultar is really good in that he does a great job in explaining what he's doing and why.

Gameslayer has 2 very excellent guides with tips on how to play different HQ's but I can't point you to them because he's not finished yet. HINT HINT.

Best education you'll get is watching some of the tournament matches. Zultar (and recently Cubit) do commentary on the games and you can get great analysis of what people are doing right and wrong.

With any luck whatsoever my actual tutorial series will start going up tomorrow. I'll drop a link here assuming I'm productive enough tonight to get it done.

I'm in the process of revamping the wiki. You'll find some videos from these channels as well as other core information about the game here: http://offworldtradingcompany.gamepedia.com/Offworld_Trading_Company_Wiki

The wiki is far from complete, but it should definitely help get you started!

Edit: Zultar's videos have really good commentary (when he's not poking fun at Soren :P

Many thanks for the replies all!

For the first time in a long long time I've found a new game that I'm excited to learn more about and become involved with... right now I've just been comp stomping but sooner or later I guess I need to take the plunge into multiplayer.

Don't forget, there's a spectator option in multiplayer lobbies. It helped me figure out people's reasoning and timings a lot by watching a few FFAs live. Being able to calmly switch between people's POVs and figure out where they stand gives you a good insight into how all the mechanics intertwine.

If only the game was a little more active :( hopefully the activity spikes when it's released or when they drop the price.

Are you on the latest beta version?: http://offworldtradingcompany.gamepedia.com/Next_version

Also, there's a steam group with most of the active players in it (the ones on next_version anyways). Adding people from there should help you to tell when there's a lobby going on.
