From trillian site...

Trillian's universal connectivity allows you to chat on all major chat networks, including AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo!, and IRC simultaneously. With the minimal Whistler skin and interface, Trillian Pro provides a powerful and efficient user experience, such as a summary of your previous conversation every time you open a window, web cam pictures integrated inside a buddy icon area to save desktop space intelligently, or even more than 200 emoticons to choose from, some with surprising sounds and animation -- and no annoying ads

MSN Messenger - just because it's user interface is the best, when it's not overly bloated (but if you want bloatness, go with ICQ)

I however use MSN, AIM, and ICQ... why? Cause my bestfriends use MSN, community members at EE use AIM, and people in WC use ICQ....

It all depends on what your friends use.
They are really all equivalent.

I mainly use ICQ just because that's what most of my friends have. But I do know 2 or 3 people on the MSN network. That's why I have Trillian.

Trillian doesn't work correctly for me.............. I use ICQ/ICQ Plus, I recently tried MSN, didn't really care for it, but use it occasionally......... Yahoo, and AIM...... bleh!

I like all them for different reasons myself:

ICQ i've used the longest and i love alot of the features of it. Especially is history and logging features.

Yahoo i enjoy for the Chatrooms and Web cam abilities. Its Simple and easy to use. Tho the history and other features are pretty suxy.

MSN i can't stand due to the fact its always freaken popping up on my screen cause its a Microsoft product with XP. I tend to never use products that are like that hehe. Tho from others i know its pretty close to what Yahoo is.

Trillian - Is a good Combo program for AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo!, and IRC all in one program. I just don't like the history and logging features of this program. If this had ICQ history feature..i'd so love this program more hehe.

MSN is the only one i can get to use voice reliably, so i put up with it for that.

mainly though, i don't really use IM programs that much.

Urlryn, I don't know what version you have, but Trillian now has a pretty good log. And if you buy the Pro version, it' even more awsome. You see your history in the chat window.

Yes as Paxx pointed out, the history feature in Trillian Pro is terrific. Being able to scroll back up the chat window to see the pervious conversations is extremely useful.

What is also nice is the URL grabber.Trillian automatically checks the conversations for any URLs and maintains a list of them. If whatever skin you're using supports the URL Grabber you can go to it and browse all the URLs and click them

MSN... nice and simple.

I almost gag at the amount of bloatware that ICQ has in it.

I used ICQ for a very long time. My ICQ number is quite low compared to what most people have. It only has 6 digits (). So, needless to say, I have built a whole lot of contacts over the years. Almost all my online friends use ICQ.
I don't prefer ICQ, it's just what the people I know use.
I've tried MSN, and the interface is sleek. Neat. I like it. It's a valid choice. And I do know, as I said before, a couple of people who use MSN (ironically though, they are Mac users, go figure ). At some point, I even had a friend (only one) who used Yahoo. So, that's when I decided to try Trillian. I certainly didn't want to have to keep 3 messengers running.

And when I run Linux, I use Gaim, which can also connect to all networks. Only problem with it is that ot doesn't do file transfer. Bummer. It'll come.

Yahoo is the only I don't use. I just started using trillian and it seems to be a good solution to the multiple IM mess.

Like paxx, I only have an IM because someone I know is using it.

I used Trillian, then it crashed. I'm planning on reorganizing my contacts here soon. But that will only be for ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN. Because I have alot of friends on AIM. When I look at their profiles, I can't freakin click on their links. What's up with the linkage in peoples profiles through TRillian? Anybody know a way to fix this? So, I'm all mixed up and confused.

/me is pulling out his hair... Oops now I'm going bald.

I think once I get some stuff taken care in Trillian I'll eventually bounce back to that for a long time. I used to use it all the time. Ug.

But now I'm using AIM mostly.. Messing with AIMBot, Sub-Profiles, and a bunch of niffy things with AIM. Hmm, am I missing anything else. Dang, I with I could think of enough stuff to make a story out of something.
