"Expert" computer user

I see there are many expert computer users here. Does Expert include the abilities to work inside the machine?

Wonder how many expert computer users are A+ certified.

Then again, you can "buy" those college degrees online as well (if I'm to believe my spam).

/me The problem with online college is you don't have an experienced teacher to be there for you like you would in a classroom.

What did we learn today in class? You have to bold the action text after the command and not before

in the past , I have came to notice that such terms as Expert, are completely relative, mostly to the person asking the question, eg if say the average guy in the street, says to me 'Are you a computer expert' I would have to say 'depends what you mean by that', but compered that guy, probebly yes, but say Mr Gates, asks me the same question, I would be forced to say no.

So my answer to the question am I an expert, I will have to say - umm I dunno (doing best Homer Simpson impression). I can happily pull apart a computer or built one from skratch, maybe inside a fishtank or something (just to look good, no water or fish), and usually answer the question 'Whats wrong with this, look I do this and its buggered it up...'

as to that "~" character that D queried, it is also used as a shortener outside of the unix world in cases like "Walzing Ma~".

Expert, Guru, = ego/status?

When one holds themselves in such light it is nothing more than ego or less that status, when applied by others it is deference to greater ability and knowledge held by them?

I'm considered as between 3 and 4 by a number of expert computer users, but I think that's more of a "being polite" thing than anything else

I love it when I get this call on my help desk...
" I just restarted my computer, and I have this message on my screen that says Non-System or System Disk Error, replace or strike any key when ready".
I snicker, and tell them this is a really nasty one, please write this down... See the little button beside the floppy drive, (yeah) Push that button... now press a key on your keyboard..

Wonder why they call me an !@# so often.. >
