Adds on Home Page, Why?

Adds on Home Page, Why?

Why am I getting a pop-up for 75% off games every time I open the wincustomize site? I do not play games and even if I did it is annoying. If I use adblock plus for the wincustomize site it screws up my home page. The other thing is I was under the understanding that as a subscriber you do not get the ads. What is the solution to get rid of the ads? I am not impressed Stardock would be doing this sort of thing.

I use adblock. I used to get ads on the home page but if you click on the icon check "don't run on this page", images came back. As for the other one. Ditto. I'm assuming it'll be gone after the weekend.

AdBlock Plus won't prevent/remove it on its own, though I believe there is an extension that enables AdBlock Plus to bypass a DoNotBlock script.

Anyway, I'm not seeing the ad because I use U-Block origin, but I do get a "Cannot Didplay This Image" box that I have to close before I can proceed.  That in itself is annoying, but I'd be mightily pissed if I kept seeing an ad.

Using adblock edge here, have no idea what popups you guys are talking about :p ,also running flash control & ghostery. The site looks fine to me on waterfox always does

there's couple of other plugins i have tho i don't use them much one is no script the other is self destructing cookies,at this time they're not active.I suggest try adblock edge.Starkers ! you may find that more to your liking or not

Sorry but you are missing the point. One of the benefits paying members are suppose to receive are no pop-up ads. Up until now there has not been a problem with this type of pop-up and I don't think paying members are going to change their browser because of a pop-ad they have been receiving for the last 4 days (at least I am not going too). The point is we are not suppose to be receiving pop-up ads as paying members period. "During the course of 1 year you'll receive exclusive WinCustomize features, unlimited downloads, and more. Plus, you help support a site that has virtually no advertisements, no pop ups, and is very fast and clean."

The correct solution is for Stardock to remove the pop-up ad and from this point on keep the site pop-up ad free for paying members such as myself.

OK now I am not getting your point. I realize there may be options to prevent seeing the ad but for me at least that is not the proper solution. I do not enjoy having to jump through hoops to eliminate something I was promised I would never receive in the first place. One of my reason for buying the subscription was to get rid of the ads/pop-ups. If I have to continue to use pop-up blockers or take other measures I would not normally have to take why buy the subscription? I might as well save myself a few bucks.

Anyway the ad will probably be removed soon. My concern is if this is going to become common practice because if so I will be reconsidering renewing my subscription.

This image could not be loaded... :troll:
that is what i get, after the page loads up for a minute.
Im not complaining im just counting the extra seconds for the page to load each year.

It got to a point where i open up wincustomize and make a coffee in the meantime, when i come back it will be loaded, now showing me this message about the ad you guys get, just that the page was not able to load it.
Which is good since i dont want to see it anyways, guess nobody does, i mean who the

<p><bdo dir="rtl">fuck</bdo></p> likes advertisment and popups?

AB caught it not ABP even though Wincustomize is on the whitelist.
Im not a subscriber due to the fact/reason that WC does get slower and slower and has not upgraded its look since 2003, now adding the reason that even subscribers get popups.

Sorry...

Same here. For a weekend sale it has outlived its usefulness. Shoot it!

That is good news however I don't want anything similar to this in the future, I do not believe I am alone in that wish. I do not play games and if Stardock wants to advertise their software to me they can continue to do so the way they have been doing it which is through emails.

Not wanting this to become a beating the dead horse thread it would appear that subscribers to WC are not going to get an explaination as to why we were subjected to seeing the advertisment.  Now seeing the advertisment really was all that upsetting but I believe emails were sent out also.   Were both necessary?     :-"

I'll be forwarding this thread on to our team. Thank you all for the feedback!

Hate to revive this thread, but why am I seeing ads for Ray Ban sunglasses (among others) across the entire top of pages on the site? They seem to show up everywhere on the site randomly, even on the home page. On each ad in the bottom right corner is says Ads by Wajam also if that helps.

Nevermind, I did a search on Wajam and found out it was some sore of Malware, and it's really weird because I never installed it.  o_O

With my brother before he passed, anything he didn't plant was a weed

And anything he DID plant.... was still weed. ;)

At one point he had my father watering it for him, though at the time dad had no inkling of what it was he had been nurturing.  It just wasn't around where he grew up during the war years, and he was never the party goer where he may have come in contact with it, so he wouldn't have recognised it in either its natural or harvested states.  Hehe, and it's just as well nobody told him what it was he'd been watering... or he'd have gone ballistic and kicked my brother's backside up to his shoulder blades.
