Window Blinds doesn't work with Solidworks

The Window Blinds max, min, and exit buttons in the top right corner don't work with solidworks. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I have no idea what solidworks is, but you could exclude the program in the WB configuration........ Per Application settings.
Probably not the answer you want, I know........... I really dislike having to exclude certain programs, but it's all I have to offer.

I envy you Jesse James 007; Solidworks, I've been dreaming and drooling over it and all the addons, but alas i am but a poor fellow

Solidworks loads into it's own virtual shell windows I do not think you can do anything with it really...

You do notice that every main function from loading the program down to the basic function browsing the libraries is configured and run from batch files...

DO you have SP 12 installed? This might make a difference as I did read somewhere that USG was working on full intergration into the .NET enviornment and they were talking of starting out with XP as the test bed for it.

I do kno thta Mechanical Desktop/AutoCAD 2002 and Pro Engineer 2002, Catia and a few others have worked it so they are now true Windows XP functional apps...

ALmost all of them make use of direct access to the GPU for control of the Video and do not use Windows for that other than as an overlay...

anyway...

I could be totally wrong in this, but.... It was an issue from Solidworks 1 and up with how it deals with video hardware...

I'd go to the USG website and browse around to see if hat isn't any white papers on running under XP and .NET...

migh get better understanding on that end of it and then figure out if WB can be manipulated to deal with it...

personally I'd exclude those specific apps...

I'm running Solidworks 2003 SP1. Dont worry I don't work for myself lol so it's the companies program. They do let you take a copy home though if ur the primary user hehe.

So how do you disable WB in per application spec. or what ever lol. Gonna dig around abit and see what I can find out. I know it has it's own VBA in the program.

Display Properties, Appearance, click on the Windowblinds button on the left, on the right hand side you will see and option for " Per Application " click that and on the next screen click "Add per Application setting.."
and then on the next popup click Select from Disk, it's located on the top right hand side... browse to Solidworks and click the batch file that loads it, or actually the link will probably work for the whole app, because it loads different cfg's and ini and batch's while running it... so if that doesn't work, you will have to pick each on and added separately, not sure...

I've a back ground in mechanical design on the board and in CAD and also family who are engineers and friends also, so kind of been around it pretty much all my life. My mother actually was one who worked on the trail sensors/counters used in Vietnam for troop and vehicle movements which SOG used for intel gathering way back in the 60's

na Brad wouldn't sell his baby even if I or anyone else could begin to wrap their/my mind around it and keep it from going belly up in the order of three months!!!

sides, I'm still learning and have yet to put any real time into attempting to skin anything

though I am dusting the cobwebs in my mind out and getting back into drawing and computer graphics for pleasure finally

so maybe... sometime this millennium

SolidWorks... hmmmm... time to do a Google search. Never heard of the program. Must be for engineers if you mention CAD.

Another program to learn, so little time

oh and you might want to try using a UIS1 skin on SolidWorks and see if it works. you can go in the same area that you would for a program exclusion except you would assign the program a specific skin.

I do that with some programs like Photoshop and some games (exspecailly for full screen) When I make windowblind skins I will do my best to always include a sub skin that is UIS1+
