Try diving when they're around, IPlural. They realize humans don't normally belong in the water and they try to 'save' you - but 'helping' you back to the surface.

Too bad they don't understand the concept of SCUBA tanks or a snorkel.

I've seen one or two in the water, and while in the water over the years
Used to dive, but for the last few years it's only been snorkling down in the Keys on weekends for Lobster and such. What sucks when they come around when you are fishing, is you spend all this time waiting for the fish to run the tide, and they decide to play and hang around and snatch a snack every now and then, end up chasing all the fish off, that and the tail slapping they do to stun the fish.



Manatee's are pretty cool though, they just kind of hang around close by and munch sea grasses, popup to see if your looking or not and sidle over close for a look, but when you lok back they kind of back away a bit.

Anyone ever makes it to Tampa Bay we'll have to go night fishing a couple of time so they can catch a Snook. It is like a Bass with jumping and fighting, but it pulls like a huge drum also, strip an open face real almost every time with any over 36 inchs, and we mostly catch them 38 and up on bait caster, more line on em
