I've screwed up my xp ... can someone help?

Okay, I accidentally deleted my boot.ini and bootbak.bat and other boots files like that. I was deleting all my boot and logon randomizer program. now everytime i try to switch user it asks for the user and pass like it would in a networked win 98 or 2000 not the usual nice lookin xp style user and pass logins.

The program i used was LogonUi Boot Randomizer found at ......... http://members.rogers.com/userxp/indexlbr.htm

how can i reset my logon settings to its very original ...setting ?

thanks

deleting boot.ini is a very serious blunder....
I'd say you got to start from scratch.
Unless one of our more savvy programmers can help you re-create it.

I'm not sure if this will work or not, but in this case it might be worth a try. Download and install Logonstudio https://www.stardock.com/products/logonstudio/download.html then selectct restore XP defaults. The button is on the bottom left of center. It might work for you and save you a re-install of XP. Like I said it may or may not work.

How about looking in your recycle bin first. If the files you deleted are there, restore them. Or you could also try using system restore. If all else fails reformat and re-load as wombat_1 suggests

Program menu, accessories, system tools ,system restore.
you can restore back to a date before problem .as long as system restore has been on .
It can be turned off I don't recomend it.

actually. looking at your origional post again....

Load Windows XP and once the task bar is loaded, click start, Control Panel, User Accounts

the on the right side in the darker blue click on "Change the way users log on or off"

then on the next page check the box that says "Use Welcome Screen"

you have it set now to default to the older system login....
