Music Review: Life of Dillon "Overload"

Life Of Dillon

Overload

Album: Prologue

Year: 2015

David Keiffer experiences nirvana at the thought of seeing his crush in the  clammy “Overload.”

A balmy guitar opens the single, setting a humid tone.   She tells him she has been in love with him for years. She leans into him, holding on his chest. He puts his arms on her shoulder, his forehead on hers and takes a deep breath. It’s finally happening. Inside, he feels as though he’s going to lift up from the ground. (“Know that I been waiting for so long/You’re all that I see/I can’t stop this feel oh no/It’s taking over me/Feel the mercury rising/I feel your bass line bumping/Hear it in your rhythm/You got my heart beat pumping.”)

In the chorus, he’s on a permenant high, breathless and unable to concentrate. (“Oh I can't stop it/No I can’t control it/Can you feel it overloading/Oh overloading heh/You can’t stop it/No you can’t control it/Can you feel it overloading/Oh overloading heh.”)

The first verse is sung again.

The chorus is sung again to end the single.

Keiffer, unfortunately, sounds as though sucked a ton of helium and is kind of phlemy. Hopefully, he took some sinus medication after recording it. There isn’t any romance in his voice, which is suggested by the lyrics.

The sweet   “Overload” has it’s heart in the right place but it’s just not there.
