Poser Problem >:(

I'm having a problem with Poser 5 and I'm about to throw the disk out the window in the ice weather.

Problem - Can't get the clothes I design to attach theirselves to the freakin figure.

Now, I've been working on this issue for 2days. I've searched the web for a tutorial for basic things. I even checked the help file which doesn't even make sense and doesn't help. The only thing I learned from that is how to make hair.

Proposel - Could somebody explain this or point me in the right direction or it's going to take me till sometime next year to get this working or the disk will be bye bye. But I need this to finish my project that I've been working on for the past 2weeks.

Thanks,
Weaksid

P.S.
I've been holding off for asking for help since I'm suppose to be a computer person

In Poser 4: across the top chose Figure/Conform To. Make sure the object is selected. Poser 4 came with a .pdf file as help. Hope the helps in any way.

Yea, I read the whole section in the help and the conform option didn't even show up when I selected a clothing object. That's what made me get off track. I got the figure and the conform. Say I was picking a pair of pants for the dude. It would show the pants and make the dude disappear. That made it even worse. I was wondering what happened to him. But then I still followed the directions and the option you said wasn't there. I'll try again.

Sorry sid - I can't offer much help - all of my experience is with Poser 4 - and then never as anything for actually creating /art/. I just used it for an ex-girlfriend to help her visualize poses she was trying to draw.

I've seen some really nice work in Poser by other people but personally I've never liked figures in my own artwork.
That's no help to you Weaksid, but I found Poser to be very difficult to work with...
Hope you find the help you're looking for.

Try at Renderosity, there should be something located on the site about it, also a lot of good information and tutorials, msg boards on almost all 3D applications.

Does this help?:
1. Load the character you are going to use.

2. Load a dress from the dynamic clothing library.

3. Go to frame 5, then load the sitting pose you want to use. (You might want to check the pose before proceeding and correct it, if necessary. For example, the pose "Sit on Chair 04" has Judy's hands cut into her thigh. It's best to raise the hands a little above the thighs.)

4. Load the object that your figure is going to sit on. (In my test, I just used the box primitive to simulate a sitting surface.)

5. Go to a side view and scale and position the object underneath the sitting character. Note the scale amount, you'll need it in the next step.

6. Go to frame 1 (the scaled object will revert to its original size). Scale the object to the same value as in step #5, then position it behind the character. You don't have to put it very far behind, just be sure that the dress is not touching it.

7. Go back to the main camera, if you wish, then enter the Cloth Room.

8. Click on "New Simulation". A window will pop up where you can enter some parameters. I left the end frame at 30 and checked the "Cloth self-collision" option. Set the "Drape frames" value at 4, then click OK.

9. Select the dress, then click on the "Clothify" button. Click "Clothify" in the window that pops up.

10. Click on "Collide Against", then click on "Add/Remove". Select the figure (e.g. Figure 1) and the object she's going to sit on, then click OK. Leave the "Start draping from zero pose" option on, and click OK.

11. Now click on "Calculate Simulation". (Of course, if you want to change any of the parameters in the cloth room, do that first.)

12. Poser 5 will start working on the calculations. When it's done, click on "Play Simulation" to see whether you need more frames for the dress to settle. If you do, then change the end frame number in the simulation settings and redo the simulation.

13. Go back to the Pose room, select the best frame and render.

Have fun!

Boxxi, thanks very much for the info. I understood that alot better than anything else I read. I even understand why it does what it does by just reading that. Thanks again.
See ya in deviantART.. I just joined. I should of joined a while back when my friend was a part of it. Slipped my mind I guess. Dang it was oily.

Uh-oh. Joined DA? Might we be seeing tons of artistic endeavors from you in the future then? ^_~

It's possible.. Many ideas. It's just when I get stuck in a problem. I tend to stick to it to solve it instead of doing something else. That's the issue with Poser. But I should have this almost done with the help I got.

*chuckles* Understand that too well. I joined awhile back myself, 'just in case'. I used to be artistic. Really. But I haven't actually managed to do much of anything in years - even my skins go unfinished now!

I used to do basic button graphics and self graphics. But this is like the other side of the path. It's more fun though. I get to really push myself to see what I can do. Plus I've learned so much in the past couple weeks in graphics then I have in years. I'm using this nick over there also if you ever want to check it out.

I'm putting the stuff that didn't make it on here, the stuff that they won't take her (no appropiate), and what I have posted on here also. So, my whole collection will be posted there. Here, I guess only the best will be posted.

Is Aieee using that nick over there?

No, no, that was just me screaming in frustration. My list of people to watch grows daily!

Over there I'm the same thing I am most everywhere, Wincustomize is the oddball for nicks for me (it's an inside joke thing with this one.) Actually, I'm xRKx there.
