"*Every* single team I have wanted to win...has lost. All season, every single time. If someone were to send me WinXP Pro version I'd be willing to root against your team"

Sounds good to me .

Lets see what you can do for the Phillies...they can use all the help they can get .

WOM...That's the problem: I rooted for teams which should have won with no question, but they lost....

Found WinXP Pro Full for $134...OEM version, so it doesn't come in a box. Who cares about the box!

werewolf, you need the box if the disk gets scratched. they want a # from the box before they will replace it.

hmmm, can't just use the serial number off the disk?

no, I tried. And who saves the boxes? I didn't. Do now.

Krikey! I better never scratch mine...I just threw the box away a few days ago but I tore off the top part of the box and saved it. Gad zooks!

/me has been pretty lucky and has never scratched her CD's...

Werewolf...I have no idea I've never had to back mine up since I only use them for re-formatting etc. and with XP...it's probably rare that you'd need to re-format much methinks.

/me keeps all of her sacred program CDs in a fireproof safe that sits in a padded room (the one Shmoopy plays in occasionally) within a tall castle tower with a moat that nobody can cross unless they know how to whisper the secret password into the intercom on the stone wall to request the lowering of the drawbridge!

With ME I had to reformat every 3 months...it DID teach me to do weekly backups of my stuff though!

I think most of the problem was from not doing a clean install and from something conflicting with Logon Studio. Just a guess.

Running ME now and have had no problems. I guess I could go ahead and install XP, but I don't want to shut down right now.

So, WOM, you bought XP, but you're scared to install it?
Yeah, Werewolf...ME was/is evil! It almost gave me a nervous breakdown!

WOM, you may be right there about your situation. It's definitely better to just back up what you can and wipe your drive clean and do a clean install.

My laptop had XP 'factory' installed and after loving XP I bought an XP CD for my Desktop and wiped my HD clean and XP has made my Desktop puter better than it ever was (and I bought it about 3 years ago from Dell).

werewolf, scared. Not the right word. Having to much fun chit-chatting on the board to shut down, plus talking to elvee on the messenger.

I've installed it twice already. This will be #3. The only problem you might have is it will tell you some of your equipment isn't compatable:ie printer cd and so on. You might need to go on line and get updated drivers.

Yeah, I had to do that for my sound card...and it was a HUGE download for my 56k connection. So now it's burned on a disk for future reference.

Werewolf...I would definitely try and get all the updated drivers for your system now so you're all set to go (printer, scanner, sound and video card). WINXP is pretty good about having a lot of drivers already available but it's always good to be prepared.
