Music Review: Soluna "Bring It To Me"

Soluna
Bring It To Me
Album: For All Time
Year: 2001
Aurora Rodriguez hopes her crush will tell her how he feels in the    fair “Bring It To Me.”

Assertive synths open the single, setting a staunch tone. She smiles to herself as he darts his eyes away from her face. She knows he was staring at her. She cares about him. She hasn’t said a word to her friends. It’ll become a huge drama and her feelings won’t be her own anymore. But she can’t contain her secret. Concealing it has gotten it become difficult. (“Oh no, there you go again/You're so trying to pretend/I don't exactly what you/Are thinking about me but you/Don't know that I feel the same/I'm so tired of playin' games/Are you just afraid I won't be/Feelin' you, but baby, you'll see .”)

In the pre-chorus, she needs for him to speak up. They have a lot in common It would make sense for them to  be together. (“I've got what you need and more /But you've got to make it yours /I've got what you want for sure/So what are you baby waitin' for?”)

In the chorus, she wonders what she will have to do for him to confess. Each day that passes by she thinks maybe he will say something. He’s making it far more complicated than needs to be. Just a simple “hey, let’s go for coffee after class” would be enough. (“Baby, I already know that you want me /So what will it take for you to tell me/I'm down for you; to be with you/All you've got to say is/Bring it to me/Why are you procrastinatin'/Leaving me anticipatin'/To be with you; be down for you/All you've got to say is/Bring it to me.”)

She sits beside him in the study area. Two of their classmates went to get something from the vending machine. Now, she thinks, he might say something. Ten minutes go by and he doesn’t bring up the subject of a date once. It frustrates her and she realizes she may have to move on. (“So now we're all alone/Got your chance to let me know/No reason to let time go by/Ain't getting no where so if I /Make a move then would you care/Could you handle it from there/If you're ready get your – together/Cuz I ain't ever gonna wait forever.”)

The pre-chorus and chorus are sung again.

In the bridge, she thinks of what their relationship would be like. It heightens her emotions. She just wants him to act so badly. (“Boy, you got me fantasizing/About the things that we could do/And now my temperature is rising/What's it gonna take to be with you?”)

                      The chorus is sung twice.

At the end, one of them says “I already know you want me.”

Soluna, individually work well. It’s  T Lopez’s  and Rodriguez’s song. They have the sensuality and attitude in their voices that the song requires. The other girls do not seem as comfortable.  However, together their vocals are too complacent and don’t push the lyrics as much they should.

The adequate “Bring It To Me” doesn’t maximize everyone’s strengths
