Cross-referenced account still at Level 2

I'll bet you've heard this a lot since it is covered in the FAQ... So yes, I read the FAQs, I followed the directions to delete cookies and temp files and start over. My account was properly cross-referenced after I purchased Icon Packager last night, but I'm still listed as a Level 2 user.

Unless I'm missing something, Level 2 is for folks who have not purchased a Stardock product. Level 3 is supposed to provide unlimited downloads at WinCustomize for those who have purchased a Stardock product. Since I already followed the FAQ advice, I'm posting here to see what you folks have to say. There seems to be no "Contact Us" option on this site to reach anyone at WinCustomize directly. Have recent changes been made and those who purchase a product are still restricted? It doesn't seem as if this is an issue to take to Stardock... I enjoyed Icon Packager, and since I can't afford much else, I bought at least SOMETHING to support the site. I love the artwork here and want to continue to be a member of the community.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Styl, there are a few differences. I was hopeing they had put this in the about section but they haven't, and I don't remember what they are.

Please be sure that you cross reference to the email address in which you used to make your purchase, not the one you use to logon to WinCustomize.

A multitude of thanks for the immediate replies. Newbies to a site who step into message boards for the first time are often treated poorly. Very glad to see the Wincustomize community is NOT of that ilk.

I will save the provided email address for any future questions, though I doubt I'll need to use it.

Problem solved. Here's how, in case anyone else comes here with similar questions...

The purchase was made with the same email address I use to log into Wincustomize. This was provided with the billing information. However, the SHIPPING information needed a different email address. This was the one needed to update my account correctly. I had assumed that the PURCHASE information would be the one used for cross referencing (since that is where the money came from)!

Anyone else having this problem, be sure to check that you use the SHIPPING email address you provided.

Many thanks again. I look forward to enjoying all the terrific contributions here.

ScruffyGuy, this site has a lot of great people who will do what they can to help out. It doesn't matter how new you are, it's attitude and presentation. You did it the right way and it was refreshing.

I've gotta concur with you there, ScruffyGuy - I've found after much, much lurking (Enh, nothing to say ^_^) that the blokes here seem to be an okay sort.

Also - great to hear it got worked out! About the most I could have offered was "Well, linked my account with no problems, and even updated email addresses without any." which wouldn't have been much help at all! (Hence my usual lurking!)

Maybe part of Scruffy's #8 message would be a helpful addition on the F.A.Q.? Sometimes newbies speak better to fellow newbies because they are on the same level...ya know? I know when I first started out and someone who knew more about computers spoke to me on the net to try and help me, often it confused me more than helped me.

Maybe a "newbie" section for people...

So ya got the Pro F.A.Q. section at the bottom...
And the "Newbie F.A.Q." at the top... Heck...I'd help write it if anyone needs some volunteer work on WC

Okay...better quit before I get in too deep... (How far DOES the rabbit hole go)?

Deep, you better get a rope

But it wasn't a bad idea. Some people are highly intelligent in Computers and some aren't. It's same with everything else. Why not have two of them. One in Computer Geek Jibber and the other simple and to the point for the non-Jibberish people

Exactly Weaksid

For people like us, skimming through certain stuff is more tedious and irksome rather than helpful. We want to get to the 'bones' of it and quick like (after all, we got places to go and more stuff to surf).

For newbies...it's much more helpful to explain things in a methodical and new-to-the-net-and-this-website approach etc. etc.

And being a former 'newbie' myself...I know this all too well. Newbie is NOT a bad word...we all started there at one time...unless we were hard-wired with a computer chip in our brains...hehe

I taught my daughter how to use her first computer and now she's already better at it than I first was but it took a bit of patience and tolerance and remembering that she's totally new to all of it. Now she kicks BU**!

WOM darlin'

The other two I submitted were:

and
http://www.darkseraphim.com/ds/art/divine.zip

I submitted 'em just for fun which I finally realized is the spirit in which things SHOULD be submitted here and if they get rejected...it's okay, maybe the next one will gel with the moderators. Right? I am happy to report that it has helped me to grow immensely on a personal AND artistic level. Learning to appreciate rejection is actually a pretty powerful and wonderful thing!
