Suggestion for Fans

Hello,

Something to consider to help foster a multiplayer community.

When a game is finished, post a small XML/JSON file somewhere (on a web/RSS feed, or just drop on the user's directory, whatever) that has game information so that fans can integrate with their own sites/leagues etc. (unless you guys are doing that yourself).

The feed/file should minimally contain the following info:

  • Game GUID
  • Steam IDs of Human Players and whether or not they completed the game
  • Game settings including handicaps
  • What type of colony each player used
  • When the player was bought, for how much and by whom
  • The winner
  • Scores and stats

World in Conflict used to (and still does - http://www.massgate.net/, here's an example of their feed) do this and it was great for player-created leagues, stats sites etc.

that's a cool idea... we've got a lot of work to do planning our MP services, but I'll keep this in mind.

I agree, this is a really cool idea.

Great!

BTW - I say this totally forgetting that Stardock/Mohawk are working on their own multiplayer framework which I assume will be more capable than Steamworks.

Whatever it ends up being, allowing fans to integrate would be a great addition!
