A FEW ? ABOUT OBJECT DOCK

I have been playing around with the new beta version of ObjectDock. I just have a few questions about the bugs it seems to have. First, I can't seem to make a link to any folder. I know to type in the thread (i.e. C:\Program Files\ObjectDock), but when I try to use the button, nothing happens. Another thing is that, if I close ObjectDock or restart Windows XP, I lose all the shortcuts and settings I made on the program. Now, I know that it is just a beta version, but I just want to know if anyone else is having these problems and, if not, what can I do to stop them from happening.

I don't think links to folders are possible at this point.
I have no idea why you're losing your settings.

I haven't tried this, but I thought someone said that if you have a link to explorer.exe you can put the folder path in the startup options for the link.

Well, I figured out how to link to My Documents, but that's the only folder I can link to. You open the folder and then right click on the icon in ObjectDoc and there'll be a button to add it to ObjectDoc. Unfortunately, OD only allows this for My Documents it seems. I'm still losing my settings.

Sure you can!

Open the config and 'add shortcut'

the shortcut should read: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe

the argument should read for example: C:\Program Files\SysMetrix

Just change the argument to the folder you want to open

As far as your settings go, try quitting Object Dock after you make changes. Especially before you reboot or shutdown. That should save them.

What I did was just drag the folder to the OD bar.I have My Docs and Program Files.Didn't have to do anything else.But..it doesn't work right away.Double click on it a few times, let the bar hide and click on it again. The only problem I had was changing the icon. It froze up on me.I have 0.85 on my laptop and 0.75 on my desktop and it works on both. Note:0.85 runs slow on my desktop.

Yes. I agree with Bill. Try to close down Object Dock and then shut down WinXP. That will give OD a chance to write to a ini file the setting you have created. It should work.

Oh and from one joe to another
welcome to wincustomize.

I have no problems linking to folders.
Mind you I am still using v.65 and it has a "link" box with a browse button. If I just type C:\myfolder it works fine.
Don't know why any more recent version would work different.

Interesting......... Bill's method works for me, Monty, and paxx's method do not.
paxx.. the browse button is useless for this purpose, you can't select a folder with it, only open them.

I hesitate to upgrade to v.0.85 now.
