Only via 'grab and drag', not by moving the mouse cursor

Hi,
I just started my very first GIII game, and I'm not sure if it's a bug, a configuration or works as designed:
I can move the galaxy map only by clicking and moving the mouse, not by moving the mouse 'beyond' the screens edge. Is that an intended effect?
That's how it is for now. It has been suggested in various posts and dev streams that this will be addressed at a later time but, hasn't worked like Gal Civ II.
there are options for it so its intended to be there its just one of those its nice but we have bigger fish to fry type things
most of the core game is working now so we will start to see a bigger focus on the polish aspect of the game and fixing all those annoying things that are supposed to work but dont quite
Personally, I'm waiting for this feature before I really even play the game. I know it seems nitpicky, but I can't stand not having the edge scrolling. Clicking and dragging wasn't working well for me because half the time I had a ship or something selected and it would think I was trying to move it. I don't like using the arrow keys because that requires me constantly taking my hand off the mouse and moving it to the arrow keys then back again. I really like to move my hand as little as possible (I have my mouse sensitivity up really high so I barely move it to move the mouse pointer) due to carpal tunnel issues. Being able to remap to WASD keys would help as well so my left hand could easily handle it.
So really, I am greatly looking forward to this feature being added.
