Menu highlight

Hello, I downloaded the trial for the purpose to customize two windows aero style elements, but I am having difficulties to find my way through change system colors. I am using WIN7x64. In order not to spend time with descriptions I will post two images. In the first image I want to change the color that highlights the "New Private Window" menu and in the second image I want to change the color (and make bold) of the frame that is around "My Documents", if possible.

As the years go by they left me with a sight problem and it is difficult now to see what is highlighted in the first picture.

I don't think Windowblinds can tweak the native theme (Windows Aero ) directly as it is a non-intrusive GUI tool, yet, with Windowblinds skin is another story if you haven't tried that.

thanks for your reply, if I use a windows blinds skin, can you point to me the system colors that I have to edit that correspond to the menu highlight above?

If you used a Windowblinds skin, then the skin itself will take control of it. But,if that doesn't good enough, you can adjust that in Windowblinds main app, further more use SkinStudio for more precision.

Btw,your images are quite murky/blurred............ o_O

Gaspershooters was correct you can't adjust the Windows Aero.

I believe you want the Mouseover to be darker as you are having a problem seeing it right now. My suggestion would be to check out all the available WindowBlinds. On the top of the Wincustomize page look for explore, click on that and go down till you see WindowBlinds skins. I'm sure you will find a skin you will enjoy using. There are many colors and styles. If you use WindowBlinds/Color/change System colors most of these will mess with the entire Windowblind. The person that made the skin used the colors you will see. That is why every WB you look at will have different colors showing in the Change System Colors. Skin makers use graphics to control what you see for mouse-over images. Also as Gaspershooters said anything can be changes using Skinstudio. You would need to know what controls what and make new images for what you wanted to change. Not quite as simple as it may sound.

As I said my suggestion would to be try different skins from the gallery not just what came with WindowBlinds. You are sure to fine a few that work for your situation and you also like.

For the special price on Windowblinds now you can't go wrong as it's a great program. Don't know about the trial but if you purchase it SkinStudio comes with it in case you want to mess around a bit yourself with a skin. Remember you change a skin for your use it's only for your use.

davebax thanks for your detailed reply. I though that with windowblinds I would be able to change the Aero theme as easy as it is to change the windows theme if aero is not in use, through "change system colors". As I understand from your post I have to use a pre made skin by another developer, instead of making my own small changes. Also when I am in system colors menu as in the picture in the link http://s30.postimg.org/ciobz2pn5/ge_1920x1080.jpg  next to the description, i.e. "System color :ActiveBorder" I don't see the existing color, even though at the help file each function had on the right the color used. Does it have to do something with the trial?

Gaspershooters sorry I know I messed with the pix although I am not a forum newbie, but it was mainly as I had copied the address of the "Thumnail for forums" postimage.org function, but as i couldn't find a preview of my message here, I wasn't sure if the postimage's thumb works here so I used stardock's image resize option and the images turned out bad, but I will paste now the thumb to see if its working

well not working so I am posting the direct link of the color that I want to change (the color highlighting the New Private Window option)  http://s10.postimg.org/b2s95ovp5/Image_1920x1080.jpg

EDIT: thanks for replies unfortunately the system does not allow more posts from new members so I will edit my last post with the hope you see it.

Gaspershooters thanks for taking the time to explain but I do not understand why you keep insisting on firefox. I thought that the changes with windowblinds are universal, i.e. work for all open windows. So I downloaded a skin from the  web that does what I want as shown in the picture (hopefully right this time). What I want (or wanted initially, when I opened the topic) is to make a copy of my theme and then customize some elements of my choice. So is possible to just customize some elements on the basic window aero theme via the "Change System Colors" option, or in order to do that I have to dive deep in the customizing and create my own skin from scratch thus better avoid it and use another developer's skin?

If you are showing me the mouseover in firefox that can't be controlled by wB. At least I don't think so but I don't have FF installed so not 100% sure. I was looking at your explorer image. The two mouseover areas. thought that was what you were talking about. If so then what I already said applies. They are controlled by an image us windowblind makers make and put in using skinstudio.

As far as you making small changes. If you can make them and they work fine but in most situations they will not because they are controlled by the windowBlind that was made. Just remember this. Changing colors in the change color section may control several areas in the windowblind even though you may think it's only changing one area. I still stick with my original sentence. Find a WB you like and use it if it works for you. As far as what will and will not work with the trial version I don't know for sure. I believe it should all work. Do know if you purchase Windowblinds you get SkinStudio. Don't know if you make images or not. If you do and start changing things in Skinstudio you will first say what and later after you learn some thing say wow. If you are a member of Wincustomize then you can download as many as you want. Giant sale on right now for almost everything if not everything. But hurry it won't last long.

With Skinstudio, you certainly can make adjustment based on your preferences, the "Menubar" as it called in Windowblinds codes. Firefox,I haven't use it awhile, but seems got its own skinning core that is hardly overlayed with the third party engine as I read threads here. Having said this,if that issue matters a lots to you,why not invent small amount of money, play with Windowblinds a bit,I can sure you that it can do more than just colors changing, besides, there are thousand of skins you can choose from.

For postimage.org,after you done upload, simply paste the first link, not the others. As: http://postimg.org/image/b2s95ovp5/

Windowblinds is the GUI painting engine, the developer has done his best to make it more compatible with any software the users have installed onto their system. Unfortunately, that is not always the case due to software is being written with different tools (non-universal) nowadays, therefore, there is a one thread regarding bugs-report for developer to improve/workaround. I think if you searched the forum, the newest build of Firefox has some issues with Windowblinds.

If your theme is a Windowblinds skin format (.wba) no matter what the style/developer's skin/download from the Web/your skin from scratch,it's doable;however,if the theme is Window Native skin format (.msstyles),it cannot.

Now,as you're running the trial version of Windowblinds,I cannot 100% sure it will work if the functionality is enhanced version only (for Windowblinds skin,of course).
