Windows 7 Start Button changed to windows 8

Unable to access windows 7 start menu

I am running windows 8.1. I have had numerous window updates in the last month. My original Start8 download was 1.11. It worked perfect on this machine until recently. The windows 7 start button and access to windows style7 start menu suddenly disappeared. When opening Start8, I get a compatibility error message from windows. I tried several changes in the start8 configuration menu to get it back to no avail. I than tried to upgrade to 1.47 but cannot. the message invalid start mode: archive filename. What can I do to get back my windows 7 start menu. Thank You

Hey, I was able to update start8 today for windows 8.1. The start menu is now back to windows 7 style.

I'm not sure about all the settings, but I don't want to change anything yet, the windows 8 start screen

was really annoying for me.
