Copyright Infringement Question?

I would like to know why in the rules you can't use someone else's work without permission, but in the windowblinds skins under movies there are alot of skins that are blatantly using copyrighted movie images and have not been challenged for their infringement. Specifically author Exar Kun; there are several others. Is it different if you put your skin in the movies category?

Please tell us which skins you are referring too. I find the Star Wars XP: Sith skin questionable myself, but what others are there? Many skins have been moderated for this reason. If there are others that were missed, I'd like to know about them. Thanks.

If I need to name names, here are the ones I noticed: Star Wars XP: Jedi - images in the taskbar. Maul, but that is sooooo old. Lord of the Rings Gondor: The start menu isn't being shown because it consists of the picture of the king's statues right from the movie. He says he has permission from Romsi (I have that skin and Romsi does not have permission either)

I hate to be a pain about this, but I had a skin I put up that had no ripping or infringement, it got bumped because it made a moderator "uncomfortable" and thats ok, I redid the skin, but I try very hard to stay within the guidelines and other's should also.

Thanks you, Swtnssss. I appreciate this. Many skins have been moderated for this reason, but sometimes a few can slip through the cracks. It is important for us to hold everyone to the same standard, and we do our best to do so.

Like the man says, it usually just slipped through. A lot gets uploaded, so it's easy to make mistakes.

I completely understand that...the skin of mine that got pulled wasn't pulled until after it had been up for a month and had a bunch of downloads
