Diplomatic relations and relative military strength

I'm watching the dev stream from last week now and I'm at the point where they talk about how the player having a weaker military makes the Iridium take a more hostile stance towards them, and I had a thought. I don't know if it's too complex or anything, but I'd like to see how a rival civ responds to something like that be effected by the disposition of the civ in question's ruler and/or ruling class and/or public. So for example one rival might respond to you having a more powerful military than them deferentially while another might be spooked by the same power differential and get into an arms race against you and/or seek to build a grand coalition against you etc and another might appear deferential while working against you behind the scenes. And one might respond to you having a weaker military than them by seeing you as an easy target for conquest while another gets all protective, etc.

It would also be kinda cool if the disposition of civs - or of societies, ruling classes and individual rulers if they were going to break it down like that - changed over time, whether suddenly in response to events or more gradually.

I think that is the general direction most games with 'civilizations' are heading these days, not withstanding where it has already been done!

Personally i think they could achieve a better outcome by stepping up random events (diplomacy) to make sure things will never be too predictable.

I think the human should receive a AI weight just by being human and smarter.* (DARCA is not a representative of the human race and its affiliates in any way and cannot definitely claim all humans are smarter than any AI.)

DARCA ;)

Huh, doubtful any 'actual' representative of the human race could successfully argue the merits of human intelligence while being so heavily contradicted by the existence of reality TV

DARCA can't represent the human race because DARCA isn't human. :p

This should read:

DARCA is not representative of the human race in any way and definitely cannot claim to be smarter than any AI.

Corrected text:

In GalCiv II there are events that alters governments, diplomatic relations, and their moral code. Therefor i suspect that these will make their reentry into the game.

Examples of events that are in GalCiv 2:

Leader was assassinated -> There is now a state of war between the two races named in the event.

The government was overthrown ->The diplomatic relations between the two named races improve.
