1v1 Feedback.

I've been playing against the AI 1v1 quite a bit lately, and had a few comments on that.

There's a noticeable lull in game play that tends to crop up around colony size 3. There ends up being very little to do for a few minutes while you accumulate resources/money to expand. It's difficult to reliably gain cash to do things because resource being produced tend to get suppressed. Also, auctions drive up debt totals for both players.

The AI does some dumb things, especially scientific. They like claiming resources when there are closer, or even next to the colony, equivalent tiles available. Any possibility of coding a way to ship resources directly from say an Iron mine to a steel factory, instead of wasting fuel shipping via the colony for scientific?

I'm not sure if its just the normal game speed or handicap imbalance (less claims), but the black market sabotage is obnoxious in 1v1. Some of the effects seem to take so long to wear off, which time ends up getting spent without a whole lot to do which becomes a real drag.

Some of the map resource spawns are ridiculous. I had one where every resource except iron and abundant water was under an expansive size colony placement. Next best spawn was 2 touching resource tiles.  Bit too much of a luck based auto-win when that happens.

In 1v1 it still seems that colonies requiring full steel costs for things suffer a bit. Takes quite a bit of claims/energy/etc to produce that much steel while needing glass etc. Could just be my play-style though and not adapting very well.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll change it so that raw materials will ship to factories before the colony, if possible.

If you see the AI do anything especially dumb, could you post a screenshot?

Not sure where/how to post a screenshot , but the AI is trying to use pirates to steel power. No other resources transit passes the pirate location.
