Welcome to the Offworld Prototype!

A note from Soren

Hi everybody and welcome to the Offworld Prototype private forums!

First of all, I'd just like to say how honored I am that you have chosen to buy a prototype simply based off of our words and reputation. We'd like to be posting screenshots and videos of the game publicly but have to hold them back for various press embargoes, so we are all very thankful that players are interested in Offworld even without the usual eye-candy.

I'd encourage people to just jump into the game and then post their first impressions on the forums. If you have questions about how the game works after a few tries, go ahead and check out the rules I published here: http://www.mohawkgames.com/2014/06/16/offworld-rules/

A few words about the different game modes:

Tutorial: I would recommend starting with the Tutorial, which - don't worry - is not of the "do you know how to move your mouse" variety. Instead, it is a series of 6 missions of increasing difficulty which will slowly introduce game concepts. For example, the first mission simply asks you to upgrade your colony four times. Auctions and the black market are turned off until the third and fourth missions, respectively. Your colony choice is made for you until the last mission. The AI will take it easy on you for the early missions. And so on...

Single Player: Allows for your standard skirmish games vs. the AI. I haven't put a ton of work into the AI yet, but it should be a decent opponent for your first few games. If you start beating it regularly, I would recommend upping your Handicap. Can you beat it on Nightmare?

Campaign: The campaign available right now is much earlier in development than the rest of the game. We would love to hear your feedback on it, however!

Multiplayer: Works! We've played LAN games and Internet games, and everything seems to be working in our bubble. Let us know if you have any problems. You may want to organize mp games here on the forums as there probably won't be the critical mass of players necessary for random pickup games at any time of the day. We gave out the extra Steam key (and $20 coupons) for a reason, so please try out multiplayer!

Thanks for joining us and have fun!
Soren

Nice!  More importantly, does my badge show up here??

EDIT:  Yes, but still the GC3 one instead of the OTC one.  Oh well, baby steps.  :)

No, don't plan on moving over anything else.  For now, just post any feedback into a thread in this forum.

As did I!  Was a little overwhelming at first, but once I decided to play on Snail Speed with Beginner AI, I didn't feel like I was getting massively outproduced by the AI while I was waiting for mouseover delays.  Won my first game on what I would consider Baby's First RTS mode, so time to try it with some semblance of a challenge.

This game is really good.
