I need a hand with Photoshop7........

Hi, I just need a little help with Photoshop7 I recently install it. And when the install wizard finished it prompts me that I should install Photoshop7 in another partition or phisic unitie, cause it could bring me problems to have the Photoshop installed in the same one cause my page index may be too short to run the program.

And now Im seeing that every step I do while Im using Photoshop7 is very slow to process and present those changes, I also have windowblinds running at the same time. What Should I do ????

Thanx for all.

How much ram do you have?
If its anywhere less than like 512 you're going to have problems runing photoshop and windowblinds at the same time and still having a somewhat normal speed in photoshop (at least I did). However...ram is really cheap these days, look around on the net and in shops in your area. I found a good 256 chip for 10 bucks!

Also, if you have your hard drive partitioned you need to set your first scratch disk to the partition
that does NOT have Photoshop installed on it.
Click Edit, click preferences, click scratch disk and set the first scratch disc location. For example, if you have Photoshop installed on the C: drive, set the first scratch disc to the D: drive.

Breaker, I have the same setup as you (but with a celeron 700) and photoshop runs fine with windowblinds for me.

How full is your hard drive? Performance noticably hurts after it's 60% filled. Also, have you defragged and done all those other system maintenaince stuff?

Allright, So then Im not in a such a bad situation, if you say that Jobeleca, I have enough space free, like 80% free on my hard disk, and I defragment yesterday. So I will be alert to see how good or bad is my PC performance, and I will let you know Jobeleca, thanxs for your help.

Anybody can feel free to give me any tips or advise to learn and developt my artskills in Photoshop7.

Check your scratch settings in PS and see how much memory usage it's set to.
Should be 50% by default, but it sounds like yours may be set to somewhere nearer 90/100

What do you mean by SCRATCH and whats the meaning of PS ??? Hippy, Sorry but my official language is Spanish So be a little more explicit or specific Hippy .
It refers to the amount of memory reserved for Photoshop.
If you go into the PS settings, you'll see a section for controlling this.

Go to http://gurus.onlinedesignschool.com/beginners/newbies.shtml and check out the 'Photoshop Guru's Handbook'.
Good resource written in nice simple terms. Just right for this Wombat!
Mostly PS6 but new sections on PS7 added all the time.

Where do I do to get the DesktopX2 Beta download? I'm a registered user, but I'm not finding the link on the ObjectDesktop website. Can anybody lead me in the right direction?
