Shuffle not working in Windows 8.1

Decor8 is a nice software and I liked it very much . But unfortunately, for me, ( Windows 8.1 64 bit), shuffle did not work. I had a workaround but it is tiresome if you reboot very often.

1. First uninstall Decor8
2. When it asks for rebooting - reboot.
3. After rebooting, run CCcleaner - registry cleaner
4. Then reinstall Decor8 
5. It does not ask for rebooting , but shuffle starts working until next reboot
6. After next reboot , go to step 1 again and repeat process.

 

Hope stardock resolves this issue. But for this, Decor8 is a great software!

I have just done some testing here and I cannot reproduce this.

Shuffle seems to be working just fine.

What version of Decor8 do you have and what happens exactly after a reboot?

Hi Neil,

 

Thanks for your reply. The version of Decor8 is 1.07

The version of windows is 8.01

 

After reboot, it gets stuck with a theme ( new ofcourse) but does not shuffle. 

 

 I found a better work around without using ccCleaner. I ran Services.msc and made the services of Decor8 manual. So, when I have rebooted, i start  the services manually and everything works fine.

 

if the problem is computer specific, my bad luck. If others too are facing this problem , i would love this bug to be corrected.

I have managed to have shuffle working in Decor8!

I have Windows 8.1 64 bit. The procedure is given below.

1. First, open Task Manager , and end all processes relating to Decor8. You can activate Task Manager by right clicking on the task bar.

2. Thereafter, open Program Files folder where Decor8 is installed. Create a shortcut in desktop by right clicking on Decor8.64.exe ( or 32 if you have a 32 bit OS).

3. While you are still in the Program Files folder where Decor8 is installed, create a shortcut in desktop by right clicking on Decor8srv.exe.

4. Now you will have to open start-up folder. You can do so by clicking "run" and typing "shell:startup" (without quotes).

5. Now drag the shortcuts that you had created for Decor8_64.exe ( or 32, as the case may be) and Decor8srv.exe to this startup folder.

6. Close the startup folder.

7.Now, the services for Decor8 will have to be made manual from Automatic. For this,open "services". You can do so by typing "services.msc" ( without quotes) in "run".

8. Now search for "Stardock Decor8".Double click on it to open properties.If not already open, click on "General" tab. Now change the startup type from "Automatic" to "Manual".

9. Now click " Apply" and close it.

10. Reboot.

11. Your shuffle in Decor8 should now be working.
