Message board expansion

Many tech sites have sprung up over the past couple of years.

And some of them have excellent message boards which I enjoy participating in. But at the same time, they always seem to attract a certain demographic of user that may not appeal to all people.

What I was wondering is, would there be any interest here in expanding the WinCustomize message boards to be much more useful as a larger discussion venue?

Or would you prefer to keep it the way it is where it's more of a smaller venue?

Either way is fine. The reason I ask is purely from personal experience, I like to be able to talk about software and technology based on merits and not whether it's free or cheap (example: I use Photoshop and Corel Draw, I don't like being yelled at for not going with a free solution or with PSP. I see that tendancy quite regularly where if it's not free, it's evil and I tend to value time over monetary cost).

I wrote an article on this actually:

Oh and another thing that we didn't want at first but which turned out kind of nice to have is the ability for an author to delete their own message. We kind of thought it would be disjointed at first, but the deletion leaves kind of a red "scar" (this message has been deleted by the author) or (this message has been deleted by the manager or assistant manager). The threads are still coherent, everyone knows the thread is altered, and the person who posted something incorrect can have a chance to make the post right.

Now you're talking sense! How do you delete a comment you made?

well, thas is on another board. There is a button to delete your message. The outline of the post is still there with a notation. The content is just gone. Here it would probably show up over the B or U if they did it.

Jam I could just imagine the kind of havoc you could cause if you could untracably edit a post.
